Is The New: Rachel Bilson & Pam Anderson

jenn garner in style cover.jpgRachel Bilson’s landed her own InStyle column in what might be the most genius starlet-meets-fashion move we’ve heard in a long, long time.

Since The OC, Rachel’s wandered in and out of a couple of movies and launched a line with DKNY, but it’s her style that keeps her on everyone’s radar.

The magazine’s managing editor, Ariel Foxman, said that most women answer, “Rachel Bilson,” when asked whose style they admire and so they recruited the California girl to write a page or two in the magazine in which she discusses her favorite trends and what she wants to buy for the month. She’ll also answer readers’ style questions.

Rachel tells WWD, “I am not planning on quitting my day job to be a full-time fashion editor, although I am really enjoying it and it intrigues me very much.”

We’re not sure what her day job is, but we think she’d make a kind of awesome fashion editor.

Really? I kind of don't think she'd make an awesome editor. If she had any journalistic training whatsoever, I might reconsider.

"most women answer, “Rachel Bilson,” when asked whose style they admire"

Which women are these, because i don't know any of them.

I don't dislike her, I think she's cute.
But I agree with guest #2, does she have any training/experience with journalism?

And 'most women'...really???

a lot of fashion editors - market etc - don't write anything. it's all about their taste and their expert eye, skills rachel obviously has.

I don't really see how she's that big a deal. She's really, seriously lauded for her fashion? I'll hear mention of her style now and then but didn't think it was something that merited its own column in a national mag.

Should be interesting, I guess. I don't particularly like or dislike her -- kind of "eh" about it.

I want to know if her column is light hearted or treated as a serious opinion. I'm undecided. It will be interesting to see just how much creative input InStyle allow her for the issue.

aw, she's so cute. true, she's not super avant garde, but that's why she's doing this for instyle.

Rachel Bilson? Really? Wow, mainstream 20-somethings in the Midwest must be hard up for fashion idols. No wonder they all dress like Gap ads...

I beg to differ that InStyle is a "fashion" magazine!! A celeb mag with some pictures of clothes photographed unattractively.

i think everyone loves rachel because shes is sweet and warm and relatable, not because shes got incredible style, but thats fine, i love her for these reasons.

#12, are you serious ? A magazine filled... on every page, with the latest fashion and style reporting, if it's your taste or not, is still a fashion magazine. Fashion is about diversity not what commentor #12 on fashionista.com deems worthy, or cool enough to be deemed fashion
