The OutNet Launches!

the outnet launches.jpgNatalie Massenet’s much-anticipated The Outnet finally launched this morning.

The site’s as easy to navigate, though not quite as pretty, as Net-a-Porter and stocks about 200 brands right now. You can search by designer, by category and by percentage off or click on Dress Me where they’ve sorted product by occasion. Also, they’re doing seventy-two hour pop-up sales on rotating items.

There’s a note on the site that Marc Jacobs will be in next week and we’ve spotted some amazing finds like this Derek Lam grecian dress, this cream Zac Posen bag and this awesome Mulberry jacket.

But remember that part about how it wasn’t going to be all recycled Net-a-Porter product? True, we probably spend an inordinate amount of time on the mother site but we’ve seen all of this before, this Chloe dress, these Marc shoes and this 3.1 Phillip Lim shift - all at the exact same prices - except for these sequined Miu Miu’s which are $100 less at Barneys right now.

There’s a gem of a Burberry trench, some beautiful pieces from Nina Ricci and we spy the Louboutin zipper heels. It’ll be swell to have a Net-a-Porter sale year round, but let us know when there’s something we haven’t seen.

I was a bit disappointed. All the cute items were not in my size. http://isnotfashion.blogspot.com/

I have to second that feeling of disappointment. I'm hoping it'll be better in a couple weeks, re:merch

Considering how long this has been talked about - you would have thought they would have had SOMETHING new to offer....

Something new?!?!?!

On a SALE site !?!?!?!

I don't understand your disappointments.

We all knew it was the old stock they had failed to sell on the main site. That was the whole point and purpose.

I was looking for the Mayle stock from NAP but it doesn't look like they'll be stocking the brand. And, yes, I am aware that Mayle has closed.

The site is very disappointing, especially the prices. All the old stock that failed to sell isn't any cheaper than when it was listed in the sale section of net-a-porter. At least then it was all on one site.

i'm kind of disspaointed. they have the same juicy shoes that have been in net-a-porter's sale section for over a year and they're still the same price in outnet's. it's like lower the prices already.

I agree with 6, rather disappointing site. Also, over 200 brands? More like 50.

And how come there are some things marked down by only 30% on an outlet site? That are over a year old? Ridiculous.

Isn't net-a-porter notorious for higher markup than other retailers anyway? Why wouldn't their "outlet" follow suit?

My love remains with Gilt, but it is nice to have options.

@4, the sentiment is understandable, but the Outnet was promoted/buzzed about so much pre-launch that you'd imagine they'd roll out the big guns for the first day. Like more pieces that haven't already been spotted on NAP, or bigger discounts on the things that people already know.

agreed the site is dissapointing. when i clicked on each item, it said it was no longer available. mind you, I am in sydney and given the time difference, I may have missed the boat. hopefully the best is yet to come.

the prices are terrible and more then what you can find the same items for at the shops. And what was the point of signing up for notice of the sites open when it launched out of the blue and my email notice came 1/2 a day into the launch day? TERRIBLE start to service and very disappointing if this is what to expect

My email arrived on time even though I was dubious about whether it would. Hmmm, lousy reviews so far, let's hope it gets better!

I don"t see any "real" bargains for the clothing or the shoe prices. And this is an "outlet" hmmmm. o.k. if u say so.
