Adventures in Copyright: Leggo Our Sergio

sergiorossijessicasimpsoncopyright.jpgThe fact that Jessica Simpson has anything to do with making shoes still makes us want to rip our hair out and shout obscenities. And we think it’s safe to assume that it always will.

So when a dear reader sent us this beyond blatant rip off the pop-turned-country singer’s company did of this banded and beautiful Sergio Rossi pair, we went to the dark place. They play that “nothing but a t-shirt on” song on a constant loop there. We don’t recommend visiting.

What’s all the more infuriating is that Jess probably owns the designer pair in every shade they produced. Why can’t she just leave at least one area of commerce well enough alone?

Almost every single pair of shoes she "designs" is a knock off of something.

Meh. I think these shoes are easy to knock off though. The material is inexpensive and honestly, all the different brands that have ripped it this spring (there are several) look just as good as the originals.

I am waiting for the [almost requisite at this point] rant about how working-class-girls cant afford Sergio and we deserve style too :-D In all fairness I would never purchase something with Jessica Simpson's name on it any way…

Here it come houseofstyle! Yes they're a blatant ripoff and Jessica sucks, but really, $400 for shoes made of canvas and patent leather? Doesn't that make you want to rip your hair out too?

I've been told that Jessica Simpson shoes are incredibly comfortable because they are well-balanced. I'm not into celebrity lines (albeit twenty8twelve), but I'm will to try anything if it means I won't want to saw off my foot at the end of the night.

I've heard that the shoes are comfortable because they are made for people with really wide feet...

Also, I agree with whomever said that no one is righteously outraged because of our general loathing of all things Jessica Simpson related. Poor girl.

I shrug my shoulders. I buy nothing with a celebrities name attached. Unless they put in hard years at a fashion school, they're not getting my precious pennies.

I happen to really like a lot of Jessica Simpson shoes. They are seriously comfortable, reasonably priced, and stylish without being overdone. The heel on my pink satin Stella McCartney pumps broke off while I was at a party once. I had to break the other one so I could walk normally the rest of the night. And I had only worn these shoes maybe three times, because I deemed them appropriate only for special occasions.

I get it when F21 knocks off something truly unique by a designer, but strappy shoes? And dogging Jessica Simpson simply for who she is and not on the merit of the product she produces? LAME.

it is a terrible rip-off, and her shoe line has nothing original. but i agree that the sergio rossi ones are way overpriced for what they are. I'd pay $250 max for those materials.

I have the black SR pair and they are AMAZING and super comfy. I did try on the pink pair and Zara and in all honestly it is a matter of time before someone breaks their legs walking in them.

Target has pair too...As far as Jessica Simpson's Shoe line goes I like it, I have a few pairs of boots from her that I love! They really are decent quality and while I'd love to own the real deal on the strappy shoes I'm going to end up with the Target pair, afterall I AM IN COLLEGE! Lol! Hope I'm excused.

1. that is a blatant knock-off

2. i love these posts, everyone starts commenting, esp. about JS (remember when she ripped off a handbag and people on here freaked out?)

3. I LOVE her shoes. I don't care if they're rip-offs. I love fashion, but not enough to know every collection/season and I think her shoes are still somewhat pricey (for my small salary that still has to pay a mortage), but very, very cute... and I get a TON of compliments every time I wear one of her shoes. The only complaint I have is about her black patent sling-backs, they slid off my heel in the middle of walking down the aisle at my good friend's wedding.

otherwise, I love them. and I love this shoe. I think I may have tried this on once at dillards. (yes. dillards. i live in ohio, people. no access to normal boutiques, sorry).

All of you that are saying that JS heels are comfortable are out of your bloody minds. They might be cute, but they're hell to walk in.

I always wanted to comment on how ridiculous these AiC articles are, but honestly, they're the only thing I read on Fashionista. As ridiculous and catty as they are, I enjoy them. & the comments section. & the same tired arguments in the comments section. It's lovely, really.

So thanks Fashionista--- see, the website isn't completely useless..

I actually like Jessica's shoes. To #26, it may be the size that you are getting. I've heard that if you are getting up to a certain height of heel, you should go up half a size. Haven't tried it myself, but it's definitely worth a shot.

Also, Jessica's shoes seem to be the only attractive shoe at a pretty attractive price. I've seen so many other ugly heels, wedges, etc. that are well pulled off by her designs.

I'm not saying that's not a complete rip off. But since I won't be wearing them that much, I'd rather buy her pair. They probably cost the same amount of money to make.

I got a pair like that from Banana Republic, $120 on sale for $40. Come on, they're strappy sandals. Everyone makes them every year. It's not like Sergio Rossi invented the concept.
