Fly Girls

the organic pharmacy travel kit.jpgWe’ve talked about your flying style, but what about your in-flight beauty routine?

Without a stash of go-to skin essentials, you’re likely to walk off the plane with dull, dry, all-around blah skin.

After years of fine-tuning and begrudgingly editing down my inventory, I’ve finally settled on a small list of products that I carry with me every time I fly, no exceptions: cleanser, eye cream and a light moisturizer. All three are great for grooming-on-the-go, especially if you need to be somewhere straight off the plane and won’t have time to freshen up.

You can, of course, cull together a few of your favorite products or squeeze bits of the empty ones you already use into teeny tiny travel containers. Or you can just buy an already perfect set and save it for flights.

Currently, I’m obsessed with these three sets: ESPA, The Organic Pharmacy’s amazing holistic kit and this luxe set by celeb aesthetician Eve Lom.

Are there any airplane skin tricks I’m missing?

I would recommend Pond's Clean Sweep wet cleansing wipes as a travel essential. With these, you don't have to worry about limits on liquids (or spills). They are light and refreshing in a grimy airplane bathroom, airport, or train station and very quick to use. I don't travel without them. Plus, they're compact and work well on the face or the body.

I know a lot of people love to have a facial mist, such as Evian or Caudalie Grape Water.

Of course, sunscreen in some form is a must.

This post is about skincare but I'd love to find the perfect haircare essentials for travel too-I'm really stuck there.

Ooh good call with the wipes. I also like Rodial's Glam Balm Wipes, they are pretty fab and don't make your skin feel sticky or dried out.

Hair is tricky, it all depends on your hair type. For someone like me with hair that tends to get greasy and flat really quickly, I try to keep a dry shampoo with me like Rene Furterer Naturia Dry Shampoo or Frederic Fekkai Au Naturel Dry shampoo.

If you have really curly hair and are heading someplace humid, very essential to bring an anti-humectant or silicone serum to scrunch into your curls to keep them from frizzing.

Also, if you need to freshen up a hairstyle that's gone flat, look for root boosters or volumizing sprays. The trick is to apply them to your roots ONLY and not the rest of your hair. If you apply at the roots you get instant lift, but applying all over can just make your hair look dirty and weigh it down more.

Also good ideas are Ted Gibson's styling sheets (no fuss no muss).

Hope those help!
