Jewel Of The Nail

essiepolishbottle.jpegWe heart Essie nail polish. Really, what would the world be without Ballet Slippers? And we totally swooned the first time we saw those neon shades they’re doing.

But until today, we never thought anything of major value could come out of our manis. (Unless you count breaking a nail biting habit.)

The polish people are teaming up with jewelry designer Judith Ripka on three shades: Put A Ripka Ring On It (soft pink), Heart My JR Jewels (deep burgundy), Queen Of Hearts (true red).

Now that’s all fine and lovely. We’re not big Ripka wearers, but she does make some very pretty things and these colors are delish.

No, what we’re excited about is the three bottles that will contain a little something extra. One will hold a diamond, one an emerald, and one a sapphire. Owner Essie Weingarten swears the stones will just need a little polish remover before you do with them what you will.

It all sounds very Willy Wonka with his golden tickets. And while we realize the chances of finding one aren’t the greatest (and the packaging will prevent cheating!) But that won’t stop us from trying come August.

Just some thoughts:

Has anyone thought about how to get said jewels out of the bottle?
Do we break it and waste the polish?
What if you accidently throw away the winning bottle when the polish gets old?

"waste[ing] the polish" isnt quite a waste when theres a diamond inside. This is really cute fun idea.

Yeah, I'm confused too. How would you know they were in them?
