B for Beauty

L-o-l-a, Lola

marc_jacobs_lola_ad.jpgMarc Jacobs is adding a new fragrance to his growing perfume catalogue this fall, Lola.

The designer told WWD that while the super popular, Daisy “is more sweet and innocent, Lola is more sensual - the name conjures up a flirtatious, warm spirit.”

We love the idea of a sassy counterpart to sweet Daisy. We were slightly hesitant about girly florals, but eventually grew to love the scent.

Lola will have a mix of pink peppercorn, ruby red grapefruit, vanilla and musk. Yum.

The bottle has a completely new vibe compared to any of his other fragrances too, and the shape is even different depending on what size you buy.

The ad (shot by Juergen Teller, of course) featuring Karlie tells us enough about this girl to make us certain we would love to drink champagne and dance all night with her.

i wouldn't. she's steal all the men with that sultry stare.

reading this post made me think of a wonderful idea (maybe not that great since i'm posting it here instead of seeking a patent but if it works out for someone - don't forget where you got the idea): anyways, the discription (aside from musk) sounded very delicious, so imagine there was a combination of gum and perfume! that you could eat!! it would be filling, make your breath nice and fight caveties AND surround you with a sweet perfumish smell aura.

Bottle is great, and I can't wait for the scent, but I'm a little put off that this "more sensual" fragrance has the face of a 15 year old in the campaign. Love Karlie (!!) but I find it a little strange.

scratch that. she'll be 17 in august. but a year is still a big deal maturity wise for teenagers.

Love the bottle. Isn't Lola the name of Juergen and Venetia's daughter?

I love Karlie and the bottle like most of you, and I think it's quite appropriate to have Karlie on the ad, since Lola simply reminds me of Lolita(!?) for some reason...flirty young and sensual.

how could you have been hesitant about girlie florals? Just about everything you all LOVE is girlie and cloying in it's sweetnes and cuteness. Real grown up sophistication doesn't play well with this blog's audience, with some clear exceptions. Then to go on to say she looks so great you want to party with her all night....That's a mouthful right there. Where is the substance in this MODEL other than a look? Go party with the guy who drives the fed ex van on 40th and 7th with the thick dark hair and killer physique. He may not have a word to say or even be interesting, but boy does he LOOK like coolness personified. Marc Jacobs is about business...the business of stringing along herds of ewe lambs that will eat anything he tosses in his designer trough.
Wake up and smell the rotting hay.

#8 a year is still a big deal maturity wise for 20-somethings as well. When you read these comments in 5 years , so many of you will be smirking at how easily led and silly you sound. I would love to read your comments then. But then again ther is a truth to arrested development. You'll probably be transfixed by the offspring of Kate Moss' children.
