My female friends, it is a fact that most of us wear the wrong size bra. Every day of our lives we put on something that isn’t properly fit. It seems ridiculous, but is oh-so true. This is an even more problematic issue for those of us with more, um, prominent chests.
And don’t even get us started on the lack of aesthetically pleasing options as the cup size goes up.
That said, we were beyond thrilled to hear about Jenette Bras in East Hollywood during a recent trip to Los Angeles. The just-opened store (and website) only offers D and up. And seriously, more of you probably could wear a D than you realize. Some of our friends were shocked to hear what we ended up with!
But these are not the big ugly grandma brassieres found at so many department stores. Jenette carries mostly European lines like Panache, Freya, and Anita Rosa Faia. They’re as pretty as any petite ones we’ve seen.
The store is is filled with vintage mags and amazing mid-century modern furnishings. It’s as welcoming as Jenette herself. She will personally handle your fitting in the back dressing area and help you find the exact right bra for you. And there are tons of options for all your special occasion needs too. We couldn’t have felt more comfortable and actually learned a lot. Who knew we’d been putting our bras on wrong all along?
We can’t wait to go back for another visit.
Random Fun Fact: Jenette is also an actress who’s appeared in a bunch of James Cameron movies like Aliens and Terminator 2. Remember the poor Irish woman trying to save her two kids in Titanic? Yep, that’s the lady who has finally corrected our undergarment errors.

do you have any tips for the other end of the spectrum? I can’t fit into an A cup but shopping in the little kids section is embarrassing (im 19) and also uncomfortable because even though my chest is tiny my ribcage fits into regular bras (34). So I usually end up with red marks around my ribs or with my cups practically falling off because I have nothing to fill them with. So. Annoying.
Tips?
Ummm, love this. Nobody truly knows how impossible it is to find a 36DDD.
I’m with dumbbrunette. I want pretty stuff, but only the kid’s stuff fits. Right now I’m in a 32A from H&M, but only because theirs run small – I can’t fit into pretty much any bra most other (affordable) places.
#1 and #3 – try Gap? I believe they might have something that should fit you guys.
perhaps i will be censured for this but, guest 1 and 3: do you really need to wear bras? if you want something pretty wear a nice camisole or get some silicone stuffer things (not breast implants).
is this the same woman that was on oprah that helped her find the perfect bra?
darcykins, women with small breasts still need some cover up. Just think when it’s cold! I don’t want everyone to see my nipples poking through my shirt. A camisole doesn’t always cut it.
This is fantastic! I am so tired of going to a department store, finding pretty underthings, and then they pull my size and it looks more like a big ugly hat! How hard is it to make a 32D? I cant be the only one who wears that?
I went yesterday and got refitted into a 34F. It lowered my bust line and allows me to buy button down shirts (!!!) Honestly, best purchase ever and I plan on using only Jenette’s from now on to replenishing my bra stash
comment above: i meant shrunk my bust line, not lowered.
I’m in the same boat as #1 & #3. Gap stuff is too big. American Apparel stuff is too big.
I still definitely want a bra that’ll give some cover up and a give a bit of shape but not be padded to high heaven. and no underwires. Why on earth would a 34AA need an underwire?
I’ve been looking all over the internet, help!
Darcykins – I could be wrong, but there is a store called Intimacy and I think that is the store that had ties to Oprah.
If you’re looking for smaller sizes I’m pretty sure Nordstrom does a good job of covering the spectrum.
for those searching for small sizes, i suggest aerie. they carry AA sizes.
I’ve been to Jenette’s several times, including before the store was actually open. She’s still getting some stuff in stock, but if she doesn’t have your size at the moment, you can leave your contact info with her. Prices are slightly more expensive than at Figleaves, but it’s amazing to be able to get a bra same day. Pretty much Nordstrom was the only store in the city that carried my 34FF size, and only in *one* style. Jenette’s is gold.
Jenettes is absolutely amazing! I had no idea that I was wearing the wrong size, or how much of a difference a properly fitting bra makes.
