The best bits:
Simon: Tell me about your fixation with jumpsuits, which I share I might add, even as a short person.
Stella: Well you know I love a jumpsuit. I wore one last night, at the Met event, and I had to have a girlfriend take me in an out of it every time I had to go to the bathroom – so it does have it’s drawbacks, but I love them because they’re just so effortless. I think that pretty much sums up my brand.
It’s sort of a liberated idea. Is it like a Pussy Galore situation?
[Rolling her eyes}I think it takes you back to your childhood a little bit. I mean when you’re a kid you always want your onesie and then one day you’re not allowed to have them anymore and it’s like, “No, you’re too big for that.” But I love that you don’t have to think too much, your whole outfit is done for you. There’s no talk of skirts, pants, dresses, jackets, it’s just done.
And your gorgeous signature knits? Hellllooo!
Yeah I love a chunky knit as well, I’m becoming a bit stereotypical! I can squeeze my collection into little categories now. I love their comfort.
And this expert tailoring?
I’ve always been a bit obsessed with men’s tailoring. When I was in St. Martins, I’d take time out at night and go work on Saville Row. I was always influenced by my mum and dad’s wardrobe and they always had really cool bespoke suits.
Then the Beatles came on the loud speaker and Stella went, “Woah.”

I think the fact that you need a friend to assist you with basic bodily functions pretty much contradicts your “jumpsuits are effortless” comment, Stella.
i agree with comment above – 1
Efortless in the sense that you don’t need to fuss with the look (i.e. tucking in your shirt just right, adjusting the straps of your dress, hemline, etc.). Don’t be so daft.
I agree with Guest 1 as well… But Stella is growing on me!
what does he mean by ‘Pussy Galore situation’ I’m a James Bond fan but I’m stumped…
I love that woman. One of my favorite designers for sure. And come on guys, effortless in the style sense!
Right, guess #3. You don’t need to fuss with the look, you just need to fuss with going to the toilet. That makes a lot of sense. Now who’s being daft?
The character Pussy Galore wore a tight fitting flight suit in “Goldfinger”.
What I remember from the jumpsuits from the late 60′s is the camel toe that would appear if the wearer was not standing exactly just so. Don’t imagine that any progress has been made in that area.
Nice saying “Pussy Galore sitation” :) I hope the brand will stay with us for long time.
