Would You Wear

Would You Wear This?

drew barrymores ubiquitous blue eyeshadow.jpgThis is a picture of Drew Barrymore at one of last night’s Prop 8 rallies in California, but we’ve noticed that she’s been sporting these blue swipes for a couple of weeks now.

The last time we wore blue eyeshadow was to Henry Holland’s after party - a completely appropriate and reasonable occasion - but Drew’s pop of neon is making us want to add color to our summer makeup routine. (A routine that usually consists simply of no makeup.)

We’re a bit afraid of coming off alien-like, however. The idea looks awesome in the pictures we’ve seen shot from a distance, though up close it looks like a child tried to circle her eyes in crayon, or sidewalk chalk.

Have you tried this? Will you try it? Tips, please.

I’ve seen that this charity auction website has got Disney ‘Mickey Ears’ up for auction designed by Henry Holland to help raise money for charity. The Mickey Ears are being exhibited in Brix Smith-Start’s boutique START, London. Here’s the link if anyone wants a look,

When Heatherette had their collection for MAC, I got this turqouisey eye liner that I wear underneath my eyes. I wear a thinner line than Drew has going on but I love it!

I always use blue or purple eyeshadown underneath my eyes, and I absolutely love it! It's a great way to make a fun statement with eye makeup!

A makeup artist showed be a trick for this look last summer. She wet and eyelined brush and then applied the bright blue eyeshadow on my lower lash line.

It gave me more control over the intensity of the color, stayed put all day, and gave it a nice birght shimmer instead of Drew's chalky look.

blues (brighter the better) look realllly good with brown eyes. I generally do a black liquid liner with a little hint of blue right above it.(mac blue peep) I think Drew looks bad though. too pale for this specific color.

I love the blue swipes. I'm totally inspired by bright crazy eyeshadows right now:

crazzy that this is posted. actually, I finally learned how to do my makeup at MAC and the guy made me pick one shade that terrified me-- i chose a bright electric blue.

he then used a very thin small angled eye brush (i have one from aveda that has a eyebrow comb on one end), and made my lower eyeliner out of that.

it's nowhere near as dramatic as that, but I was obsessed with it for about a week (until i again got too busy in the mornings to bother with makeup) and wore it everywhere and got compliments left and right.

I highly recommend the bright shadow as a very thin eyeliner for your lower lids-- it looks cool, gives you an edge, and doesn't even freak out the most un-makeup-y people (like me).

xo!

i saw the picture too and my first thought was whoa! but drew has always had that quirky sense of style that makes you want to wear ridiculous necklaces and flaunt 1950's hairstyles all the live long day. but, really, i like the color, i just wouldn't wear it so thick under the eye. a line will do.
