Achy Breaky Heart

mileycyrus&maxazria.jpgJust when we thought that word of a possible Ungaro/Lohan pairing was as bad as we’d see this week in fashion meets Hollywood news, WWD tells us that Max Azria is partnering with Miley Cyrus for a juniors line that will sell at Wal-Mart.

While obviously this collaboration makes more sense to us, at least financially - Miley is a HUGE brand after all, albeit one that makes us grind our teeth and want to scream and juniors is certainly the right market - we just don’t think being famous and wearing clothes should mean that your own collection is the next step.

We’re so sorry, Max. But this does not make us happy. Especially when it means that we’ll probably be forced to see even more of Miley come Fashion Week in September.

Of course, we want to see brands succeed, but at what cost?

it really destroys the art when everyone is doing it. being a fashion designer means less and less as every actor gets their own collections.

Christ, I hope this partnership doesn't translate into bandage dresses for tween set. Miley, Max, and Walmart has huge sale potential. Good luck to them all.

The Olsens did start at Walmart with their clothing line. Who knows what is next for this Miley person.

"Miley is a HUGE brand after all, albeit one that makes us grind our teeth and want to scream" - AMEN!
geeze what a trio Miley+Azaria+Walmart... sounds frighteningly perfect actually. if white trash suburbia is your kind of thing. Let's just hope this brilliant collaboration never leaves the borders of Walmart. i think i would need to be admitted to an asylum should i ever see a Miley Cyrus boutique.

All the people that are SO horrified, you really out to relax. This isnt a high fashion callaboration, it isn't like Miley is trying to sell you Fendi bags adorned with her face and lots of glitter. It is clothing for people who buy their clothig at WALMART.

It's nice that I will never have to witness this collaboration and its product. Walmart is the LAST place I would go to, nuclear winter included.

(though, there was one "celebrity line" that I loved. Bless Jessica Simpson and her insanely comfortable shoes! It may just be her name on them and someone else's work - but that someone else did one hell of a good job.) :)

Honestly, what next? This is getting ridiculous.

The more I think about this pairing the more sense it makes to me. It seems like a smart way for MA to introduce his stuff to a young crowd by pairing himself with Miley. When those girls age out of this Wal-Mart line they may be willing to start buying BCBG. If it worked that way Max will have captured an audience for what 15 years or maybe longer.

Why all the Wal-Mart hate? I went to college in NC and I have a million great memories of going to the 24 hour Wal-Mart in Durham at random hours of the night with my friends. Seriously, there is nothing wrong with it.

No offense to Max Azria and all his companies, but the man is such a sell-out! Max Azria, BCBGMaxAzria, BCBGirls, BCBGeneration - I've honestly had enough. And now with Miley Cyrus as a potential business "partner"? No thank you.

i second #12's comment- i haven't really paid attention to Max Azria since I wore one of the BCBGirl's perfumes in middle school, and then I look up ten years later and he's teaming up with some gawky power obsessed (see Radiohead story) teen with an obnoxious franchise. blech.

Fashion is not only an art- it is a business as well. In the name of his business, I think MA is making a great decision. Especially because Miley and Wal-Mart seem to go hand-in-hand.

I would have chosen someone a little less trashy... but that's up to Max.
