Adventures in Copyright: Zip Your Lip

michael kors aldo adventures.jpgWe’ve had our eyes on these Michael Kors sandals.

The stretchy straps guarantee a comfortable fit, the patent leather heels add some needed shine and the zippers, just a bit of rock ‘n roll—the perfect SS09 combination for a very reasonable $130.

Especially reasonable when you take into account Aldo’s knock-offs which forego stretch nylon and patent leather in favor of three stitched leather straps and a pointier matte black heel for $90.

Meanwhile, both remind us of these zippered Sergio Rossi’s. They’re now on sale for $536 and soon to be found at Zara in neon green, we’re sure.

I can SOMEWHAT understand knocking off high price-range items, but when it's a knock-off of something in the SAME price range?! This is sad.

i bought a pair of aldo shoes once, and they literally started falling apart.
albeit, i didn't take as good a care of them as my other shoes (i wore them in the winter on salted sidewalk, and once when it was raining) but still, i was not impressed.

Similar design but I guess some people will prefer cheap leather while others will prefer nylon. As long as MK is not doing it in leather, I would think it's fair game. I personally prefer the nylon but I can see why one would pick the aldo over the MK.

Just a note, the tone of this AIC post is much more pleasant than the ones a while back that sparked all the angry comments.

I take it back, I looked and he is doing it in leather...now THAT I don't like.

The only thing Michael has ever done that was worth while was attach a shirt onto a pair of boxers (DIY!) and some of the Celine pieces.

Although, he has a good personality and is super nice

Aldo is garbage. While their shoes may look appealing, it lookes hideous up close, they are always so uncomfortable, and way overpriced considering their quality.

Total Betty...

I own the Michael Kors and they are absolutely some of the best heels I've ever owned! The quality is great, the stretchy strap and contoured sole are comfortable (especially for people that have bad feet!), and they look even more stunning once you put them on.

The Aldo version is uncomfortable at best and doesn't look nearly as nice in person. I'd rather pay $40 more to get the better quality pair.

Good work, Fashionista!

I have the MK ones and I get tons of compliments everytime I wear them. They add just the right touch of sex appeal.

Can I just point out that the comparison to the Sergio's is nonsense as these MK shoes have been out for more than a year...

Also, Miley Cyrus wore the MK's.

Black open-toed heels. How groundbreaking.
