Madame Paulette Turns 50

madamepaulettevintagedress.jpgI once borrowed a very beautiful, very irreplaceable vintage dress from a co-worker for one of my first fancy fashion events a million years ago. I’d never worn something so special. It was like a dream.

Needless to say, the after-after-after party went into the wee hours and someone knocked a candle over onto said designer gown, dousing chiffon with melted wax. I almost died. And then someone told me two magical words that ended up saving my sanity: Madame Paulette.

Madame Paulette is the go-to dry cleaner and fashion restoration spot for everyone in the fashion industry in New York and now they’re celebrating their 50th anniversary. They can fix even the most un-fixable of disasters or bring historical pieces back to life.

To mark the occasion during the week of June 15th, they’re unveiling a new look at their flagship location as well as window displays of historical pieces (going all the way back to the late 1800s) that they’ve restored.

Here’s to another 50 years of saving beautiful clothing, and the careers of hard-partying editorial assistants across Manhattan.

Hey, not to be a downer, but Madame Paulette was hands down the worst dry cleaning experience I've ever had. I took a bag there, it was only canvas with a leather trim. And it was LITERALLY TWO MONTHS LATE. Also, they kept telling me that my bag would be ready on a certain day, and then I would show up and then it wouldn't be ready. That happened FOUR TIMES. Also, everyone was really rude. I'm sorry but I just really feel the need to share this.

Madame Paulette is SENSATIONAL...

i being an (sometimes untidy) artist decided to throw my new michael kors coat onto my bed (opposed to hanging it up)...

it falls onto the floor and onto the painting i've been working on, getting YELLOW OIL PAINT on the fur trim of the hood...

however,
one week and less than $100 later, madame paulette returned the coat to me - good as NEW!!!!

Looking forward to attending the party tonight! Hmm... wonder what Madame Paulette's gown will look like after her birthday party... like it matters as no matter what she WILL turn it new again. Happy Birthday!

I think that with most everything else in the world there is going to be that slight sliver of a chance that something could go wrong but in all honesty I have been consistently blown away with Madame Paulette. They've never said anything was too much of a challenge. I recently sent them my grand-mother's teddy bears to which I received back fully restored down to a perfect match to the missing eye I'd been searching for forever!

I wholeheartedly recommend Madame Paulette.

I agree!! I've been going to Madame Paulette for AGES walking away with success every time!

I lent my friend my favorite leather jacket to which I found the next morning balled up with alcohol sprinkled all over it--I didn't even break a sweat! I brought it to Paulettes, told them I needed it within two weeks to take it on my trip and whaddayaknow-I had it tucked away with me safely and in pristine condition through out the entire plane ride!

oh--and by the way--I'm pretty sure they even do on-site tailoring, I remember my friend's wife mentioning that
