Mickey in Montauk

mickeyboardmanandjuliafrakes.jpgWe’ve made it abundantly clear that we love Montauk and Mr. Mickey.

And this Sunday the 5th, the two shall come together for the Paper mag editor’s second annual Celebrity Sidewalk Sale at Screaming Mimi’s.

The shindig is co-hosted by Peter Davis, Charlotte Ronson, and Emma Snowdon-Jones and will feature loads of merch from people like Catherine Malandrino, Julia Frakes, and Lynn Yaeger.

Plus, the money goes to charity:water which builds freshwater wells in developing countries. We actually had no idea that it only takes about $5000 to give water to a whole village for 20 years!

So shop away, friends. We just wish we were going to be out east too. But ‘tis wedding season and we’re off to another one in Ann Arbor come Friday.

It is really sad that the fashion industry continues to promote Julia Frakes when she is really just an extremely young and extremely anorexic girl that needs serious help.I sat behind her at a fashion show last season and could count every knob on her spine. I basically gasped when I saw her. Fashion is the last environment she needs to be around in her current state of health.

True- every picture I see of Julia she looks sicker and sicker. Why does everyone seem to be ignoring this? Someone please get this girl the help she needs (WHERE is Mr. Mickey?!?!?).

I know Julia Frakes personally and eat dinner with her almost every night - I KNOW for a fact that she is NOT anorexic, and it is soooo hurtful to call her that not knowing about her personal situation!! (i.e. what person before me said about crohn's / colitis)

People are thin for reasons other than being anorexic!!! As easy as it is to assume, "hey, skinny girl in fashion industry - must be anorexic" (and i'm not saying anorexia is not a big problem in the modeling industry) - wouldn't it be nice if we took a moment to start treating people like people instead of objects we scrutinize and criticize and stop making assumptions about people before we hear their own stories?

There are much better reasons to hate on someone than the fact that she is thinner than most!! Why don't we channel our hatred towards people who ACTUALLY wreak injustice on the world...

Does she really have Crohn's? Poor thing. I saw her in Paris at the shows last spring and was shocked by her skeletal appearance. I assumed anorexia as well, but if she really has this disease perhaps she should speak out about it, educate the public about it. I know it's a select group of people who even know who she is, but if she wants people to stop assuming an eating disorder maybe she should set the record straight.

She has great style and a nice way about her-- I wish her the best.
