Guessing Game at Gaultier

whos the new aggy.jpgJean Paul Gaultier’s fragrance, Ma Dame, is turning one and the lady is ready to party.

As part of the celebration, the company has made a mini-movie in which they’ve hidden clues about a special guest that Ma Dame has invited to join in the festivities. We’ve watched it like five times in a row and still aren’t sure. It’s in black and white with pops of pink in everything from balloons to an
“x” written in a notebook. There are corsets on dancers and someone calling JPG on an iPhone, amid countless other possible hints.

Watch the video and tell us what you think.

ah, i can't watch it at work and won't be in front of a computer all weekend.
maybe that's a good thing but it blows my chances of guessing who it is first.

If it is Agyness Deyn that's lame.

....I don't think it has anything to do with a special guest.

Where did you guys get that?

It was wanting you to guess what the event was for...
which you did!

The one year anniversary of Ma Dame!

I got an email from JPG's website titled "Rose'n Roll" that says this:
"Hello,
For her first anniversary, MA DAME turns up the volume, throws you off her scent and surrounds herself in mystery!
A subtle, electric atmosphere. MA DAME takes to the stage with humour and glamour, MA DAME is chic but with a difference.
Surprise is her favorite art...
MA DAME has invited a special guest to share her celebration. Start investigating now to find out who...
You have untill the 22nd June to guess who the artist is."

I'm pretty sure that means it's a musician. Anyway, here's my dissection of the video:

1) the TIME in he beginning (12:34):
-- = 1-2-3-4? Maybe part of a song?

2) the pink MA DAME CD

3) the IPOD with JPG calling:
--probably can be taken more symbolically, like, "Oh yes, Jean Paul: he calls to me.....tweeeeee" or like that scene in The Lion King, when Rafiki belts out "Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Zabinnnyaaaaaa, Ma-ma-fiki Ay-ohhhhh" and all the animals are like "Oop--time to praise the king."
-- the time on the iPod is 00:05, which may or may not be a continuation of the sequence on the clock. In conjunction with clue #2, it could also mean they've released five albums.

4) the FAN GIRL wearing a shirt with an LP printed on it could indicate:
--an old school artist
--a new-school artist who wishes they were old-school (more likely, seeing as it fits with the perfume's youthful image)
--ALSO, her pink nails might be significant

5) the "X" SIGNATURE:
-- = "anonymous", like when you sign for a package, also we're searching for their identity, like treasure.
--the person may be somehow associated with kissy-face/lips/etc. imagery
--a continuation of the numbers thing (10)?

6) BALLOONS!!!
--I can't count them, but it might be useful to do so

7) the DRESS:
--the artist may have worn it for an event or music video
--points towards a female
--could also just be JPG saying "I do clothes too!"

8) PINK STRIPES on guy's shirt:
--could mean it's a boy or a band of boys

9) OBJECT on the flat screen TV
--no idea what this is

10) the two MAKEUP BRUSHES:
--girly, but not exclusively

11) the BLACK PATENT WING TIPS:
--masculine, but could belong to a girl

12) PERFUMES on the table
--there's the regular Ma Dame bottle, and another white one that has the logo, but doesn't look like any of the products in the Madame Range.
--maybe it's the Ma Dame version of Le Male

13) the mirror REFLECTION:
--this person has man hands, no boobs, hair cut well-above the shoulder (you can't see it in the video) and is wearing a tux. Also, he straightens his bow tie like a man.
--though the video quality is rather poor, the hands appear unwrinkled, indicating a younger artist.
--he's dapper

14) the neon pink GLOW STICK/LIGHT BULB
--considering this and the video's soundtrack, we can infer someone who injects electronic, new wave and pop sounds into punky, rock-based music.

15) The LP and HEADPHONES

15) The MA DAME GIRL:
--though she's a brunette, she's dressed like Agyness Deyn, the face of the perfume
--she goes to the artist, puts on the headphones, smiles at him/her. It's a very girl-boy exchange.

16) the WRITING on the clap board:
--pretty sure it says "The Date"

So the basic storyline is this: a young, male artist gets a call from JPG and heads off to the designer's "Maison de Couture" for a date with Ma Dame. He gets made up, meets Ma Dame, who listens to his music, and goes with him to the event, which is symbolized by the arch he passes under before meeting the director.

I'm guessing it's is a well-known male indie band of the same ilk as the Klaxons, The Virgins, etc. LOVED by fashion-types. As for what's planned.....a party/concert, of course; maybe a contest/sweepstakes in which the winners get passes to said party; an addition to the Ma Dame Range, probably limited edition...that's all I've got.

Also, sooooooo glad it's summertime and I can spend an hour or so looking at a 5 second-long clip.
