Would You Wear

Would you Wear a Visor?

00120m[1].jpgYour mom probably wore one when she played tennis. Or the kid that got made fun of during summer camp. And Eminem was pretty into wearing one backwards in 2001.

That’s right, the visor. There are two basic versions: the sporty, and the beachy.

We’ve seen the sporty one cropping up ironically on your basic hipster. Michael Kors had the beachy sort all over his Spring 09 runway. Now we’re even seeing avant-garde versions.

We’re definitely steering clear of the sporty because irony usually fades after a few weeks and then it’s just plain ugly. As for the beach, we thought Lara wore a nice one for Michael Kors, and there’s a version at Neiman Marcus that we’d even consider calling elegant. But these two mostly just look like hats so…why not just wear a hat?

Is there an appeal to the visor that we’re completely missing?

visor doesn't even make a slightest sense since it has a friggin hole where it should be blocking the sun! The point is to protect your entire head, not just shade your eyes. it's just useless. and it's not even cute enough to justify it's lack of function.

I think the idea is that a visor shades your face while not messing up your 'do. My grandmother who had her hair set every week or so would wear one. Moi, not so much.

This is so weird- I mean the timing of your post=) I've been searching for a "proper" visor for about 2 weeks now. When I say visor, I mean Samantha Jones in an episode wearing Louis Vuitton, remember it? Well, I live in Turkey and even though we have Michael Kors here(j'adore the yellow ones), we don't have everything but just selected products in mega stores. So, it's kind of difficult to find one. I haven't gone to LV yet because I'm afraid of the price. As for the reason why I want them is because this year I had rosacea and my face needs to be protected even when I'm swimming. And it doesn't mess with my hair. So. I wonder if I can find a nice one in Topshop? Nike and Adidas have it but it's too sporty and it won't go well with my one and only Pucci bikini (Ok, i'm literally broke now.)

why not just a hat? Cuz this is fashion and doing new and different things is totally the point. Id totally wear a cute visor to go golfing or play tennis in if i could find one.

My pet peeve in life are visors! I hate these and do not understand why any guy/girl would ever wear one. Yeah yeah heat is released through the top, okay, but not worth it because too ugly....

As a runner, I love my visors. Hats are too hot and sunglasses dont work for me whilst running...but, otherwise...no, would never wear one if I was not running!!

If you just want to protect your face visors are great. Another plus is that they don't mess your hair.

I feel like they do mess with your hair though, no? Like, won't there be an inprint left from the strap?

Visors are so underrated. They protect your face and keep your hair in the sun so you don't have to pay for highlights. The strap goes under your hair - very 80s spring break.
