I love Australia so much. Granted, I haven't been there since 1996 for my semester abroad. But it still holds a special place in my heart. In fact, my parents and I have decided my obsession began in childhood with the book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, where little Alexander says he's going to move to Australia when things don't go his way. That Oz obsession translated into fashion too. If only I could afford more Colette Dinnigan? Sigh.
And now even more Aussie designers will hopefully be heading to Manhattan, according to WWD. Calvin Klein exec Malcolm Carfrae and producer Julie Anne Quay are hosting the first of what we hope are a number of fundraisers for the Australians in New York Fashion Foundation which is meant to open doors for young people in the fashion and beauty industries. We love that country's sensibility, so we can't wait to see more Aussies making a big impact in New York. I mean, just look what they did for Hollywood.
