Ruben Toledo Tackles Mr. Darcy

rubens pull.jpgRuben Toledo’s best known for his brilliant fashion illustrations, and being married to Isabel.

The two of them have reached a new level of fame post-inauguration and are being honored with both a book and a museum exhibition, Toledo/Toledo: A Marriage of Art and Fashion.

But we’re even more excited for Ruben’s most recent project mixing fashion and literature on the covers of three beloved novels: Pride and Prejudice, Wuthering Heights and The Scarlet Letter.

The gorgeous books will hit shelves right in time for Fashion Week (as if you’ll have a minute to read anything in print other than The Daily) and are worth the $16 for the cover alone.

Plus, you know you’ve been meaning to re-read all three since high school.

My name's Darcy, yay, I like seeing my name.
I already own maybe three different copies of Pride & Prejudice and at least one Scarlett Letter and Wuthering Heights.

That won't stop me for buying more.
I know the old adage "you can't tell a book by the cover' but i love nice covers.
especially like the silhouetted one.

PP is the only good one. SL is the worst book I have ever read, and I'm quite the bibliophile. Skip it, trust me. These could be cute....I hope they channel their inner Edward Gorey!

This is great but I would expect a fashion website to at least mention that Ruben also beautifully illustrated all three of Nina Garcia's books. So I guess I will. :p

What? The Scarlet Letter is so good! You just need to get past the Puritan language; it really lessens the impact of the novel for alot of people.
