Streetwalker: Hand-Me-Down Heaven

streetwalker lead.jpgNola, 23, student

Got Her: Strolling down Broadway.

Stalked Her: Her necklace. Her earrings. Her skirt. Basically we were obsessed. Plus her shirt kinda looks like the dearly missed DKNY billboard.

Shot Her: Because the juxtaposition of her super casual tee and long, pleated skirt is effortless, and we love a statement necklace.

She Said: “I wear a lot of hand-me-downs from my mom and my aunt. My mom got this shirt when she was visiting NYC in the eighties, so I took it. I rarely buy anything.”

We Say: So, who gets your hand-me-downs?

I think it's great, it accentuates the waste line, and hides the tummy area, and the necklace is just icing on the cake.

She's adorable, but that t-shirt just isn't doing it for me. It looks odd tucked into the skirt and it's neckline doesn't work with the necklace. I think a simple white tank would look better.

Wow she is so pretty. The outfit really isn't my style, but she looks nice.

I love how she pulls off those big earrings AND the necklace. The shoes are a great choice too. My favorite in a while: good find!

No offense to her, and she's young and pretty. But the tucked in printed tee look doesnt quite work with the dramatic necklace. The prints on the tee and the necklace sorta clash. I'd wear the necklace either high up on the neck (if its adjustable) with a low neck top, or if its going to be worn over the top, then the top should be plain. Imagine a plain black tee with the necklace on top of it. It would stand out and look so much prettier!
Or if she had a plain or round neck dress made of the same navy as the skirt.
The tee itself is good, however, just doesnt go with the current look. Id wear the tee tucked out, over black city shorts. The earrings look great and would go with anything!

I'm afraid I can't concur with this one. The skirt is nice, but it would look nice with a light and breezy tank top. The necklace is no good.

She looks like a model from an Urban Outfitters catalogue - but in a good way.

J'adore the funky jewelry with the simple t and skirt. I agree with the posters who said a white tank would be better, but sometimes you just have to go with your old favorite. I think the necklace could be different, but I do like the vibe it's giving off. I have one almost exactly like that, and I've can't stop wearing it this summer. Maybe she's in the same boat!

I agree with #8. With that sort of necklace I would prefer a print-less tee, or a more understated accessory with that big bold NYC print. But yeah, she looks cute!
