Twilight Zone

4907_8381[1].jpgWe’ve found a lot of cute clothing on Fred Flare this summer, but when we saw the “Twilight Jacket”, we practically snorted.
The website is really trying to convince us that the bland and frumpy hoodie is actually “extra-stylish”, but apparently they don’t even need to try that hard, because the page informs us that there are only five still available in small/medium sizes.
Okay, people like hoodies. But this is clearly Fred Flare jumping on Twilight‘s bandwagon for a buck, and people are shelling out $64 to show their love. If you really just wanted a hoodie, American Apparel has some for $42. And you can definitely find them even cheaper other places.

This isn’t meant to be a dig on Kristen Stewart or the movie’s stylist, because nothing in the movie was supposed to be about fashion. We barely noticed what any of the characters were wearing, and Bella is definitely not on our list of characters whose wardrobes we’d want to raid.
We won’t stop you if you’re actually attracted to this jacket, but we’ll just stick to lusting after Bella’s beau, not her closet.

that jacket’s been on there forever. Nylon wrote about it month’s ago.

The jacket isn’t made by fred flare. It’s bb dakota and it is literally the same jacket she wore in the movie. The stylist from the film already talked about it and the manufacturer made more in the style from such a high demand.
Maybe do a bit more research before you post.

i thought the other vampires in the movie were styled very late 90s, but in a bad way. Specifically the character Alice Cullen. Why did they do that to her hair?

whoa…snark overload!

The vampires were supposed to wear “designer” clothing– the book goes on and on about how they dress and look like models. (I’m a geek that read the first book!) Anyway, the fashion part clearly didn’t make it to the movie.

Guest 3, you’re funny!

the point isn’t style gang… the point is that “bella” wore it and people want to buy it because “bella” wore it.
sheesh… i guess you guys aren’t fans.

i agree w/guest 2. fred flare sells it because it was in high demand AFTER the movie came out because the jacket, by BB Dakota was worn by KSTew’s “Bella” in Twilight. Not everybody is a fashionista, and some girls (aka teen girls) like bella’s style. No need to rip on FF, BB Dakota or pricing. Also, I’m pretty sure it’s not a hoody, but a jacket since it’s not made out of stretchy cotton etc. and American Apparel is not exactly run by the best person in the world (nor is the quality that great). Can someone please check over amanda boyle’s work cuz it sucks.

#3…so, so right.

I’m definitely not a hoodie or Twilight, but I can get behind the jacket’s appeal: it’s not special, but it’s a structured hoodie with well-placed pockets. It looks pretty cool, even if it doesn’t stand out terribly much.

I agree with all of this:

thanks guest #8!

woooah, what a pointless post. even if it wasn’t the exact hoodie that was worn in the movie (which it was), who cares if they did this? what, a company jumping on a bandwagon is a new thing to you? a company trying to make money? just because twilight is not on YOUR list of fashion inspiration doesn’t mean it isn’t on others.

3 is so right! And its especially ironic because alice is suppose to be the fashionable one and she was by far the worst dressed. I really hope theres a new costume designer for New Moon.

#7 I sure hope you’re being sarcastic

collegiate, i’m pretty sure #7 is pointing out a fact.

yeah, i think people just want to be like Bella. most likely the teen fans are the ones buying the jacket. i don’t see a problem with it. a lot of young girls like princess costumes for the same reason- they want to be like their favorite princess- they want to be as beautiful, as happy, as loved etc.

wowzers twilight fans are a bit nuts aren’t they? i doubt if you let these comments get to you amanda, but don’t let no. 8 and 11 bother you, the hoodie/jacket/whatever it is is boring as hell.

The fact that Twilight (and other movies/books like it) and the media brainwash people into spending money on things they otherwise wouldn’t give a second glance? I guarantee that if “Bella” hadn’t worn that jacket, it wouldn’t be five away from being sold out.

I liked everything Edward wore in the film.
