Waris’ Winning CFDA Idea

waris cfda app idea.jpgVogue and the CFDA announced their Fashion Fund Finalists the other day.

We’re loving the list of lesser known designers - Ohne Titel’s inclusion had us squealing with delight - but what we’d really love to see are the applications.

Word is House of Waris designer Waris Ahluwalia, who if you don’t know from fashion you know from The Darjeeling Limited - got in with a little help from his social friends.

His application included, alongside the requisite bio and member recommendations, a portfolio of images of his pretty famous friends rocking his jewels. And since it’s pretty damn hard to get your hands on Polaroid film these days he just Photoshopped them into fashion’s favorite medium.

Can we see? Please!

I'd like to see some new work from the talented Mr. Waris. It's a design merit and achievement award, right? Or is it a popularity contest?

what do you mean its hard to get your hands on polaroid film? i know it's no longer being made but i bought a two pack off of amazon for like 30 bucks.

Wow I had no idea Waris was a designer as well! I really liked him in Darjeeling Limited. I actually saw him right near my apartment, we were both standing next to each other, waiting to cross the street, and I had to take a double take to realize who it was.
