“When I think about my job now, it’s so easy. Because you get so much free time, you get to travel everywhere. The people are nice and fun and easy and relaxed. You get to smoke at work. You make lots of money. Where are you ever going to find another job where you don’t have a boss or responsibilities, really, except to get on an airplane and just show up? It’s a bit worrying.” — Lara Stone recounts her perfect life for W.

Yes Lara, it's all easy-breezy but if you keep smoking, your face is going to get fucked.

I'd rather hear this than complains about how haaard it is to wake up early and take a photo. Not to say there's no effort involved in modeling, but it's not a bad job to have if you're genetically fortunate enough to get it.

Yea #6, I've been a bit jealous of models ever since my face was disfigured from my motorcycle accident.

I think the wording here is key: "when I think about my job NOW". The modeling industry IS demanding and difficult...it's only at the very peak, which Lara knows she's at, that it's so much fun. Lara, like the majority of models, spent years struggling before she made it, working in secondary markets, doing boring commercial shoots, dealing with agency debt, getting paid in clothes instead of cash, etc. For most models that is how their career will always be, and it's not particularly enviable.

Why does everyone on this site leave the nastiest comments? I like to go to this site to unwind a little during the day and get my mind off of the daily grind. All it does is remind me of how messed up the world is! Do any of you actually know this girl. And if so, does that even give you the right to judge? It's people like you that make outsiders think everyone interested in fashion is shallow.

i think she means it's easy compared to many other jobs and maybe previous jobs she might have had. it IS one of the easiest jobs if you're lucky to have the "it" factor that designers love. much easier than being a doctor for instance. i think that's what she meant

and shes even more the luckiest model out there cuz she DOESNT have to stay 100lbs.
I dont understand why there are so many hateful comments on this post... she said nothing to warrant any sort of rude responses, to me she just sounded grateful. You people really ARE messed up.

Why don't you lighten up ?
She is the girl of the moment. Good for her. :-)
In six months it will be somebody else... So what ?

I guess modeling (I use that term lightly with Lara) does come easily when you strip for the camera more times than I can (or care) to count. I strongly agree with no. 5. I can't stand her look or her walk... and no one can say "Oh, you're just jealous" because I've never wished I could look like her.

haha this is waaay better than that model in Bruno who said modeling is like the hardest job in the world. That was one of the funniest parts of the movie I thought: "Yes it is soo difficult to put forward your right leg, and then your left leg, and THEN your right leg again"
