Would You Wear

Would You Wear an Earlace?

dechelearlace.jpgOur friends over at The Frisky found this baby by designer Dechel McKillion on 80s Purple. And we have to agree with them that these look like trouble.

There is no way I wouldn’t get snagged on any number of things throughout the day. I’m also not much of an earring person in general. I go in phases and then eventually give up wearing them altogether to the point that my holes close up. I’ve literally had my ears repierced five or six times.

And yet I’m still incredibly intrigued by the concept - even though I can’t decide if it would look way cool or just plain silly, like my necklace was caught up in my hair or something.

Thoughts?

Besides being a major recipe for disaster, this is just completely dumb-looking.

If you want that look, just wear a necklace. No need to have it spreading from ear to ear.

I get grossed out viewing this picture, too, because my mind leaps to this image of someone accidentally pulling on the "earlace" and leaving the wearer with bloodied lobes. Sorry.

It's like a Jane Child-thing times two.

Bad idea because:
1. Think of how heavy that must be on the ears, and
2. Reminds me of a beard, in a way.

There's innovative, and then there's... "novel" in a bad way.

I actually think it looks kind of cool but seriously risky and I would never never actually wear it

Looks like it would be more attractive hanging down the back, rather than in front.

I think it's a new inspiring idea .. and more accessory art than accessory design ... i won't wear it ..just too dangerous . i even don't wear these big earings as well .. because that's too dangerouse for my ears already.

hahaha #1 said it all! i love the last sentence: "I get grossed out viewing this picture because my mind leaps to this image of someone accidentally pulling on the "earlace" and leaving the wearer with bloodied lobes."
hilarious! those were my exact thoughts.

NO WAY NO WAY. more than being a dangerous object to wear, it just looks beyond strange... if you want people giving you odd, confused stares as you head out on the town, then go for it!

Want this look? Wear funky-colored headphones. Those just pull away if the cat grabs them or they get caught on something. Seriously. What foolishness.

All I have to say is that the first time I saw this look I was 12 and it was on this program...

Star Trek. That should be more than enough to put all of you fashionistas off of this style.

I think Star Trek has had some very fashionable moments.
The fact that its been mentioned twice in this post is interesting.

I wouldn't wear this but maybe a black and red jump suit and one of those little triangle broaches.

touche, 21! I think it may look interesting, and best, if placed behind the head and incorporated into an up-do. Rihanna can pull off almost anything.

i do remember rihanna wearing this, but it seems to me she does things only for the shock value(pasties people, hello?) and does not look fashionable as she used to. this is a non-practical idea and should be reserved to only costumes/celebs
