I'm currently in the middle of a retro sneaker moment. I'm feeling little shorts and sneaks without socks as my casual August uniform. And my new blue Chucks are in the process of being worn in properly as I write. But the whole look got me thinking about my old Tretorns. I remember going with my 7th and 8th grade cheerleading squads (yes, I'll cop to middle school cheerleading) to this store in Indianapolis called Shoe Carnival, where they gave all these crazy discounts if you did weird stuff like, say, a cheer or some awkward game. I can't even describe to you how random this massive monstrosity was. There were lots of flashing lights and megaphones and quite possibly, actual clowns. But I digress. Not only did those Tretorns look super cute with our uniforms (Go Wildcats!) but I wore them constantly with every preppy thing I owned.

Perhaps I'm just feeling nostalgic (and old) today or it might be the upcoming Mad Men premiere this Sunday but I'm definitely buying a pair this weekend. (I know the classic that I love didn't actually come out until 1967, but can't you just see Betty in her weekend shorts and Tretorns?) Do you guys like to bring back looks from your youth too?
