More Longchamp to Love

charlessss.jpgI can never have too many Longchamp bags. They truly are a little slice of chic perfection and utterly useful.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of ANDAM (Association Nationale pour le
Développement des Arts de la Mode) - whose focus is to recognize and support emerging French fashion talent - the label collaborated with three past winners on limited edition Le Pliage bags: Jeremy Scott, Charles Anastase, and Bless designers Desiree Heiss and Ines Kaag.

Our favorite has to be the Bless innovation wherein the bag can literally be folded into itself becoming a leather bracelet. That is some serious fashion meets function action. The sweetness of Anastase’s ballet slippers illustration is rather lovely too. And of course, Jeremy went all sorts of loud, fashioning himself as a “nouveau samurai”.

Like I said, there is no such a thing as too many, so we’ll probably just snag all three when they go on sale October 1st.

Longchamp is to Louis Vuitton as Coach is to Gucci.

wow, Jean Voltaire, that is so true.

i do like the purse that folds into a bracelet though. i can't see how that would be useful but it's interesting.

I've never really been into them until I was in Paris last month and stopped by the Longchamp store on Rue St. Honore. I couldn't resist those special edition Eiffel Tower ones that were commemorating their 120th year.

I haven't even used it...

these look pretty obnoxious, no offense. Tough choice - a crazy-looking kitty cat or a crazy-looking dude posing as ninja on my purse...wow.
Either way I always had an issue with lack of compartments and a ridiculously small inside pocket in these... i can't even fit my keys in there without them falling out or buldging. but then again, i have the same issue with the Speedy. i always find myself carrying a clutch-like purse for little objects to avoid rummaging through the bag for hours. not fun.

'crazy-looking dude posing as ninja' isn't that jeremy scott?
i agree though nycshoegal.

i also hate the rummaging.
i feel like a good portion of my life is spent trying to balance bags on my knees, trying to hold it with one hand and blindly fishing around the bottom of the bag with the other. occasionally i will have an encounter with something unfortunate that i forgot i put in there or i will stab myself because my travel sewing kit has come open and there are needles swimming around at the bottom of my bag; and if i have put my phone in there don't expect me to answer, i can never find it in time.

he usually is.

i read about her this morning, created an argument with my boyfriend.

but... isn't it basically a full body speed swimmer's suit? OR a speed skaters outfit! i've seen people wear something very similar at the olympics.

I'm obsessed with the Pliage bags, because they're fairly waterproof and they fold up nicely for travel.

As for a lack of compartments, I usually have little mesh zipper bags (I got mine at Office Depot - they're pencil bags) with cosmetics in one, medicine and feminine products in another, etc. It makes it really easy to change purses, just swap the pencil cases in and out.

Jean summed it up very well. I'm a born and bred Parisian, and Longchamp always catered to boring "bon chic bon genre" ("bcbg" in French is rather derogatory, I guess you could liken it to waspish East Coast preppies) bourgeoises with no fashion sense, and even they only used the bags for family weekend packing and going to the gym. Another one is Lancel. I don't care how much they spend on advertising, supermodels and three-seasons designers from the 90's, that particular shape from Longchamp is a non-non.

oOOoo what was the argument with the boyfriend, darcykins? if you don't mind - i'm curious. and yes, that was my thought - take diver's suit and give it a fancy name... haha

I like the size mostly and the line drawing of the ballet shoes, but I had no idea they were considered "BCBG" in Paris. Ha! I love that. One thing that is passably "alright" in one country wins you no points in another.

I've never liked this bag and these are silly. The one that folds into a bracelet seems to be a good idea as a shopping bag and nothing else...
