Tyra’s Delayed Fashion Forward Thinking

the alexander wang dress that wont die.jpgRemember this Alexander Wang dress?

Its evolution started with a runway debut on Aline Weber last September, hopped right to a V Magazine party that same week on Anja Rubik, and quickly became the new Prada lace, popping up in every single editorial until even Topshop attempted to rip it off, disastrously, and everyone who’d bought it finally tucked the piece away into the back of their closet.

But we hear Tyra Banks rocks it on the season premiere of America’s Next Top Model.

What does this mean? Well, we’ll finally see it on a womanly body, which could give those squiggles a whole new dimension. But more importantly, it means Tyra might start incorporating relevant fashion into the show (though yes, a year behind). Maybe she can put the models in Prada’s epic SS09 sandals in the second episode and see if they fare any better than the originals?

Maybe I'm reading this wrong but if the model on the runway and Anja have already worn it hasn't it already been on a woman's body?

That Forever 21 link leads to an adventures in copyright about Topshop...

I think they mean a woman with curves although I am not a big a fan of the term "real women have curves" because of how it may make women who naturally do not have curves feel.

I find Tyra does wear a few relevant fashion pieces hear and there.

frankly, i don't think i'd like to see Tyra in this piece. it strikes me as something meant for not-so-real bodies.

shear fabric is probably best left to those without too much cellulite.
although i think tyra can do whatever she wants.

Amber Rose wore it during Fashion Week and she DEFINITELY has a womanly bod.

Isn't ANTM filmed inbetween fashion week? Otherwise Tyra would be able to get the girls in an actual runway show that is held during fashion Week.

America's next worst models in the Prada SS 09 sandals would truely be a reason to watch the show. It would be a great crossover from "reality" to a comedy.

From what I've seen Tyra has been looking better than ever! So it wouldn't surprise me if she looked stunning in the Wang dress that I love oh so much.

arue @ #10, ANTM is filmed in-between fashion week because otherwise Tyra would have to come up with a better excuse as to why her girls have no business walking the actual runway show at FW.

Goodness gracias! I think it'll be awesome to see Tyra in the dress and I agree with whoever said she's been looking damn fierce lately. It wouldn't hurt the show if some of her girls did some actual work say like the winners of V's comp.

@nycshoegal
She would,wouldn't she?
I don't think they're that bad,are they?
I just think ANTM should be filmed during fashion week with models who we actually know.
