10 Questions for Project Runway

katehudsonwestern.jpgUgh, yet again I’m feeling very disappointed with my old friend Project Runway. But here we go.

1. I said I wasn’t going to ask again and I won’t. You know what I’m talking about. And we are officially in a major fight, Lifetime.

2. Did anyone else have flashbacks to that disastrous Stella dress that Kate Hudson wore to the Oscars (for her Almost Famous nom) when they said there was a Western category?

3. Um, and I guess Western-haters didn’t know it was about to come around this season in Milan, did you? Thanks D&G.

4. How much does Christopher love Edward Cullen and all things Twilight? So much.

5. Also, don’t you want sit with Christopher “I don’t want to do a gingham dress” and show him Christopher Kane’s S/S 10 collection? I do.

6. Was this the episode of more cliches than ever or what? “What it comes down to is who interprets the challenge the best”, “I just want to send down the runway everything perfect”, “As long as you love it, and if you did what you want to do…”

7. Aren’t all the best things in fashion right on that line between “sublime” and a “big hot mess”?

8. When Zoe said Swamp Thing, did anyone else think Adrienne Barbeau? Or am I (along with my best friend Meg) the only one who totally obsessed over that movie while in elementary school?

9. Were you in awe of Arianne Phillips? I was. I had visions of various versions of Madonna, Reese as June Carter Cash, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch flashing before my eyes.

10. What the what with that elimination? Are you serious Heidi, Zoe, John, and Arianne? I don’t think Michael and Nina would have allowed this to happen.

Based on the sum total of work I wasn't that impressed with for the most part, I would have gone with Louise. I think that while last night was a mess, Ra'mon's past work and potential should have gotten him another week at least.

I could be wrong, but I feel like Louise has sent pretty much the same dress down the runway every week. I completely agree with Abby, Louise should have gone home. Her dress was dull and she didn't even adequately complete the challenge. What was all that stuff about "Well, she's a noir woman going to a costume party dressed as a 20's flapper"? That's just cheating.

Ra'mon did not deserve to be kicked off. He'd consistently shown more creativity and talent than some of the designers who weren't even in the bottom three.

For what it's worth, I was not too impressed with Nicholas's design, which looked cheap, or Christopher's. The latter does the same silhouette every single time, and this time it was just unflattering bundles of fabric on the bottom.

I was also not that impressed with Logan's outfit. Actually, taking a second look, I thought it was unbelievably cliche and boring. A black leather jumpsuit for action/adventure? You don't say! And Althea's design for Tanisha was waaay too similar to what won her the model challenge two weeks back.

I loved Epperson's design; I thought it was stylish and creative and a new take on Western.

I also was confused about the challenge as a whole: was it to make a costume that worked on film, or was it to make an outfit that a regular woman might wear, using elements from that genre. Please, PR, define these things more clearly!

I've watched PR from the beginning and my love for the show is fading. They always tell people to take risks, but then eliminate those who do. I was bored and unimpressed with many of the costumes that were clearly just copies of can-can dresses or catwoman bodysuit. Yet, Ra'mon, who went a little outside the box, was sent home.

I also suspect the producers lean on the judges to occasionally make scandalous cuts. They want to get people talking and hope to get higher ratings for the next episode.

As a native Minneapolisan I was sorely dissapointed Ra'mon was let go, you could tell even Heidi was bummed about it.

Thank god Michael and Nina are coming back next week, about damn time!

Agreed about clarifications of the challenge, it was really unclear to the viewer.

Is anyone else hating that they're in LA? Its just not natural. Every fashion show that moves from NYC to LA just takes a turn for the worst.

I absolutly can't stand Nicholas. I thought his design, though I will give him looked well made, was not original. Looked like every Ice Queen ever put in any movie or comic book written. The make up artist did as much to win that challange as Nichloas did. That is what made the whole desgin.

Louise's days are numbered I do beleive. She is soooo boaring. I think she should have went home instead of Ra'mon.I dont get everybody's thing with Logan either. He is okay but he isnt all that! Lets face it, there will only be three left in the end, but with these judges you never know. He may actually be in the running.

I also cant wait for PR to get back to NY where it belongs. I dont know where they got these judges, but please give me a break! I really miss MK & NG. PR is the only reality show I watch and I hope that the new network it falls under doesn't screw it up and make it unwatchable. I mean if I wanted to watch a bad reality show about fashion design I would request for "The Fashion Show" to air agin.

Putvinski's model looked like she had bird poop on her head. I cannot stand Shirin and her dress looked like a costume that you would buy in a Halloween store. Epperson's was basically the only one that took the elements of the genre and made them look more modern, rather than costumey. And the only reason anyone likes Logan is that he's foxy, but if you watch his pre-season videos on Lifetime he is so painfully aware of it that it's really gross. Epperson has my heart. Louise stinks.

They need to stop plugging L'Oreal in every challenge. Enough is enough.
