Emma Watson, Designer

Thursday, Sep 17, 2009 / 11:57 AM

emmawatsonforpeopletree.jpgThere’s been much speculation about Emma Watson’s design prospects, from her own line to a capsule collection for Burberry. But now know what the Brown freshman will be doing on that front for the time being—a collaboration with People Tree, a sustainable and Fair Trade fashion brand.
Emma says, “I wanted to help People Tree produce a younger range because I was excited by the idea of using fashion as a tool to help alleviate poverty and knew it was something I could help make a difference with.”
We love Emma and totally think her intentions are more than genuine, but we there aren’t any photos of the clothes to check out yet. Sad face. The pieces won’t be available until February 2010 and will feature 26 women’s and 15 men’s styles, and accessories too. Word is that the inspiration is the South of France, the London capital, and country festivals. All things we like very much.
Plus, the profits go to the People Tree Foundation which is all about making trade fair. We’re sure somewhere Chris Martin is smiling.

WAY old news fashionista. i love you guys, but really? this news surfaced on beanstockd.com over a month ago!

In fact, fashionista, in regards to comment 1, is right on. What was reported in the link was at that time gossip and guessing — nothing substantiated, which is fine when you are new york mag and have a legion of lawyers behind you. Its always better to report the official news when it is out officially…even with impeccable sources, gossip in print is just scary in this litigious world.

Chris Martin was smiling for about 5 minutes until his goddamn bitch wife told him to stop.
