A Classic Choo

jimmychooclassiccollection.jpgI wear out my shoes like nobody’s business. This is the curse of New York. You don’t need a car, but you’ll spend a gazillion dollars at Shoe Service Plus, constantly fixing the soles and the taps on the heels that you already spent a chunk of a paycheck on. And then there comes a sad, sad day when perhaps that once gorgeous pair just doesn’t look acceptable anymore and they are retired. Sniff, sniff.

If this has ever happened to you with a pair of Jimmy Choos, this is going to be very good news for you. The company just today unveiled, Choo 24/7, a capsule collection of 28 classic styles, with updated lasts, colors, and finishes. Hooray!

Sounds like a smart business move to us and it’s not a one-off deal, Tamara Mellon says it will continue going forward (boots coming soon!) and will be sold alongside the regular collection. Ron Frasch from Saks told WWD, “Who is servicing the woman who goes to work in an office every day? The woman who cannot get away with wearing animal-print booties? I saw this collection and thought, ‘Whoa!’ This is exactly what we’ve been looking for.”

The prices are in the expected range, $395-$1200, and if that’s still too steep, there’s still the H&M line.

I'm a bit confused by this article. If your shoes wear out, this new line is a great option... but why? Are they more durable than regular Jimmy Choos? Why is this just as expensive as regular Choos line being promoted as good for those whose shoes wear out?

They're re-introducing updates on older styles that were previously not available.

If you want to replace a worn-out pair of Jimmy Choos and they happen to be one of the 28 more conservative styles in the 24/7 collection, you're in luck. I guess.

Slightly off-topic, but I've never worn Jimmy Choos, Manolo Blahniks, or Laboutins, and I was wondering how these brands usually fit. I'm a standard 9 usually, but when I tried on Laboutins once I was wearing a 40, I believe.

Just asking because I see online sales but don't know which size to buy. If there's any reliable rule for sizing in these brands, please share! Thank you!

To guest 2:03 all the brands you listed run small. I'm a 11 and wear a 42 in all which converts to a 12.

Back when the Sex and the City: The movie came out on DVD, I won a pair of Manolos with a gamepiece in the box... which obviously, I was thrilled about! I was even more thrilled when I found out that manolo's go up to a "US Size 12", since I'm a 11.5-12 depending on the make and material.

When I got the size 42s I requested, they fit more like a US 10.5! I was devastated... had it been slightly snug I would have made due- they're Manolos for crying out loud. But I couldn't even stand in these shoes since they were so small!

Long story short, I'm not going to waste my time on high end brands like louboutin, choo etc. because the sizing is so unreliable!

Louboutins and Blahniks run small but not insanely so. I take a half size up from my usual. No experience with Choos.
