p.s. every ethnicity is....well, an "ethnicity". including "white" people.
and i've been meaning to ask this: is Asian not considered an ethnicity anymore either? just a btw.
if you mean african descent - just say so. I personally take offense that "white" people are considered all the same and "ethnicity-free".

Hmmm... White is an ethnicity. To that same end, it is very unfair for #2 to assume that just because 1 mentioned ethnicity that she meant or African descent. I think what 1 meant was that there are no people of color. 2 Asians, is not a fair representation, but thats indicative of the fashion arena, if not America in general. For 2, 7, and 8 to suggest that it's not a race that you like or that it's not deliberate racism is easily said from a position of privilege. Having grown up in love with fashion, and aspiring to have a career in I empathize with 1, and 6 because when you see so little or none of yourself in your future its hard to imagine that you dreams will come true. The representation of models, and editors, and even front row seat holders do not entirely reflect the audience. Frankly, its unfortunate that it happens but even more so that 2,7, and 8 think its ok.

Don't blame someone for using ethnic to mean non-white. It's white ppl who've been using it to mean the same. It's white ppl who've caterorized ppl as white and ppl of color; white and ethnic. When someone says ethnic food or ethnic clothing, it's understood as non-white. Same with using it to describe ppl. If that bothers you then, blame your forefathers and fellow white ppl for putting all white ppl in one group in order to distinguish themselves from all others as though being part of "the others" was beneath them.
