Battle of the Packs

backpackatLV.jpgI don’t want to speak for everyone here at Fashionista, but I for one just can’t have anything to do with the reincarnation of the fanny pack. I don’t care who makes it or how much it costs. Just no. That’s it for me. And don’t even get me started on the kitten heel.

This Refinery29 story let me traipse back in time without the anger rising up inside of me, thanks to their collection of another kind of pack. Backpacks, I still love you. And we spotted you on the Louis Vuitton runway too.

The ladies at Refinery may have outgrown the sportier models of youth, but I’m not totally opposed to going old school. In fact, I did a couple of years ago while on crutches for three months. That hunter green baby I still had from college was seriously convenient. Hands-free is not a bad way to live, when you’re not using the hands on crutches, that is. Though of course I’m also now drawn to the really expensive leather one from Society for Rational Dress. Sigh.

But more importantly, what about you? Backpacks, fanny packs, no packs?

Ugh kitten heels! There are few things I hate seeing more on a woman. They look like legit heels that got sawed off. It's like "hmm.. heels are sexy... If I put on these 1" heels maybe I'll be super comfortable and still look a little bit sexy?" WRONG.

Anyway, backpacks: yes. Fannypacks: not unless you're on America's Best Dance Crew.

ooooh all due respect, abby, i totally disagree! i know fanny packs can appear tacky- even the vuitton one- but i have a LeSportsac one that i just love love LOVE. it's fun and it always add a splash of color and design- PERFECT for travelling and running out the door with jeans and a vintage t-shirt kind of thing.

and how who doesn't love the little backpack?? it's so cecile in cruel intentions (reese witherspoon). love it!

Fanny packs look good on other people; it's just not for me.

If I was going to get a backpack, it will always be Head Porter

For function, I still like and use a backpack, especially when I travel. I just don't think a fannypack would look good on me.

I love Fanny Pak on ABDC...But am personally not really into them.

I'm sure plenty of people can pull them off. I bet we all could if the right one were made, but I'd rather have a purse to fit all that stuff in.

I love backpacks and would like to invest in something nice for a more professional look. If I see another North Face backpack/jacket though...I'm going to scream.

Kitten heels are and always have been repulsive. However, this fanny pack is irresistible: http://atticusshop.com/product/swift-hip-sack.html

The stylish little backpack in the 90s was one of my all-time favorite fashion trends. It seems like they've been out of favor for the last ten years but I'm glad to see them getting some love here.

I don't understand all the hate for kitten heels. Audrey Hebburn wore them all the time in the 50 and 60s and looked amazing and very chic. If people think they are too low, why are they okay with flats?

I don't think people wear kitten heels to be "a little sexy," #1. When my feet hurt too much too wear 3-inch heels yet again, I like to switch things up and kitten heels are cuter than flats, in my opinion, and more comfortable. Flats make me like I'm falling backwards as I have high arches.

NO PACKS! Unless you are some sort of student, only hipsters and skater kids carry huge backpacks everywhere, fugly
