Image Title1

Just before NYFW, Britt tossed me a teal Estée Lauder mascara (see the entire collection in today's Style section) and told me it would look good on me. We all know I love products, and I love color too. But when it comes to my makeup (especially my eyes) I rarely vary from my regular routine: black liner on the inner rims, black mascara, Tarte Cheek Stain, and my ever-revolving bold lip color of the moment. That's typically it. While I appreciate and ogle brilliant and daring makeup in editorials, on the runway, and in life, I realize that I'm a bit of a bore.

Other than the fact that I'm a complete creature of habit (who's been known to eat the same thing for lunch every single day for months on end), I also started having some serious 7th grade flashbacks. The year was 1987, my makeup was intense and my bangs were high. I shudder just thinking about it. But, I tried it out regardless, and I have to say it was a subtle little flash that I think brought out a little green in my eyes too. I realize I need to step out a little more when it comes to my makeup. Why I'm fine to do it with my hair on a regular basis, I'll never know. And if my genius Susan Miller AstrologyZone reading is as spot on as usual, October is the moment to do it. Anybody care to join me? As always, suggestions are welcome.
