Quote of the Day

“For over 42 years we have built a brand based on quality and integrity. After further investigation, we have learned that we are responsible for the poor imaging and retouching that resulted in a very distorted image of a woman’s body. We have addressed the problem and going forward will take every precaution to ensure that the caliber of our artwork represents our brand appropriately.” —a statement issued by Ralph Lauren about the ad we’re all discussing.

As the first comment points out, that statement was before the other ad was found. They still have to apologize for that one now.

Ralph Lauren released this statement on October 8 and you're only just now getting around to posting it? Other blogs have been reporting on this for almost 2 weeks now.

What's sad is they act like only that one photo is the problem and won't take resposibility for firing Filippa for being too fat at a size 4 and 5'10". I wish they'd be honest about this. All they'll say is she didn't fulfill her contract. Such bull.

Shouldn't the quote of the day be timely and not 8 days old? On the other hand, I'm glad this is getting your attention but I'd love to know what the fashionista.com editors think of this whole thing. That would be interesting to many of us, I believe. Thanks.
