Would You Wear

Would You Wear Clogs?

chanel ss10 clogs.jpgIn Vogue’s April issue, Sally Singer hung out with Zoe Kravitz and Olivia Thirlby while they searched high and low for clog boots.

Though no one, from Alex Wang to Opening Ceremony knew what she was talking about, Olivia insisted, “I’m bringing back the clog.”

To which we thought, “No thank you.”

And then of course they stomped their way down Chanel’s runway and forced us to think about them again. So here we are a couple of weeks later, split down the middle. Last night over post-party pizza I told Faran I’d never ever wear clogs. Ever. She gave them a resounding, “Hell yes.” (Though she’s had this debate before.)

Intern Alyssa says no, “They’re ugly and unflattering. Maybe a step up from Crocs,” and intern Kate agrees, “When I was little I had them in lots of different colors to match my outfits. But my mom dressed me, so I had no free will.”

But Abby loves it. “They make me feel crunchy and 70s and sorta Dead-heady which I always love. I loved tooling around in my mom’s when I was a kid.”

Even if they were the most comfortable shoe in the world - which they can’t be, they look miserable - I wouldn’t. Would you?

I remember wearing clogs when I was younger and up until now, wasn't sure how I felt about bringing them back until I worked as a dresser at the YSL showroom for Resort '10. Helping the models step in and out of them for three days, they really grew on me. I dig.

I haven't thought about clogs since the mid nineties. However, seeing those cute platform clogs at Chanel makes me really want to revisit them again. I don't think I would wear them with a 70's inspired get up....it may be bit much. Although adorable with spring skirts, dresses, and shorts.

Clogs are not as horrible as you make them out to be. They are cute and comfortable.

I've never really been a fan of clogs, but I can appreciate what Karl and Marc have done with them. Still, I don't plan on jumping on the clog bandwagon next season.

Mayle, Rachel Comey, No 6 and others have all been doing clogs for a while now...surprised OC didn't know what she was talking about.

I like those clog boots that they sell at No. 6:

I think they look really cute tucked into jeans with an Irish fisherman's sweater.

Personally, I am not a fan. I definately agree they are a step up from Crocs. I'm curious to see how Chanel does with them. As proven by previous posters, some women really love them.
