Hyoni Kang’s adding a slash to her name.
She’s foregoing actress, singer, etc in favor of model/designer/shop-owner.
The Korean born model’s store, Reborn Process, in set to open in Soho right before Christmas. She calls it, “a vintage reform and remake store.”
She and her partners, Aeri, a stylist, J, a photographer and Vogue Korea’s New York editor, will sell vintage pieces found around the country and re-worked in the work space set into the shop. On top of that, they’ll also produce their own line of t-shirts.
Hyoni and Aeri will design the clothes while J handles the business side and, not surprisingly, Hyoni models the clothes online.
Click through for a selection of what they’re working on so far, and if you can’t make it to New York pre-holidays, their website will be up and running by the end of this month.

Glad she’s utilizing her (many) talents. I met Hyoni when she was one of hundreds of unknowns vying for the Ford Supermodel of the World title. Her vivacious spirit stood out among all the contestants, and she was like a mother to the other girls. She may not have the height of other top high fashion models, but she makes up for it in so many other ways. Not to mention she has one of the best walks in the business! I wish her much success in her new endeavor.
