The short fashion film (or fancy commercial) is finally migrating from France to the States and Donna Karan’s up first.
Christina Ricci will star in a short film centered around Donna’s Eldrigde bag, which in typical Donna Karan style, can be worn multiple ways. Ricci runs around the Soho Grand Hotel posing as four different characters – the paramour, the dreamer, the voyeur and the expressionist – directed by Jake Sumner (who just happens to be Sting’s kid).
The other player’s Kelly Cutrone. She and People’s Revolution helped produce the film, as well as another one revolved around the ‘cozy sweater’ that stars models instead, and will work on distributing it online and in stores.
As long as everyone keeps making print advertisements, too, we welcome the day when every designer expresses themselves through impossibly glamourous short films.
