CNN International sat down with Karl Lagerfeld in Shanghai when he was there showing his Chanel pre-fall collection.
The full interview won’t air until December 23rd but they released a clip this morning. He doesn’t remember if his first collection was booed because “back then press was unimportant.” He also compares himself to a TV antenna.
But our favorite quip comes when he’s talking about work ethic: “Holidays on the beach are okay but don’t tell us it’s for inspiration, because you become dumb in the sun.” So that’s what happens in St. Barths, huh, Karl?

The man is just so amazing…
Lagerfeld is absolutely fantastic.
That pre-fall 2010 collection is so unique. Very ecclectic far-east meets traditional Chanel. Lovely.
