We’ve all known that a Vogue cover was coming for Rachel McAdams since we spotted her sitting with Anna and Sally at Alexander Wang’s show in September.
And we’ve just gotten our first look at it. The initial thought that popped into my head was over-styled suburban housewife, especially in terms of that hair and makeup. When images of Kate Gosselin pop into your head for even a split second, it’s not a good thing. I also started coming up with Go Fug Yourself headlines that I’m pretty sure they’ll write.
Of course, like all Vogue cover girls, Rachel is exceptionally pretty. But this cover? Not so much in my opinion. Perhaps it’s that fuchsia lip with the bleach blonde hair that’s throwing everything off? Maybe it’s the incredibly awkward and erect pose? Or perhaps I’m wrong and I just like Rachel looking a certain way.
It’s probably a bit of all of the above. But really, all I currently concentrate on is my deep desire to wipe that lipstick and pancake makeup right off her face. What do you think? Is this a more interesting look for Rachel and for Vogue?
Or do you think that between this and the news that Andre is actually judging on the new season of America’s Next Top Model, Anna is most certainly donning her bad idea jeans, er, Prada shift?

rachel is one of my favorites., this is horrendous. you could do so much with her face and the way she is–something darker or crazier. ugh..
i kinda dig it. the fuschia lips and bleached hair give the D&G 1950′s thing a more modern feel. or maybe i’m biased b/c I love her so much.
Ew what is the styling
love the styling, and i really don’t hate the makeup, but…i feel like her hair could have been styled differently to really make this a perfect cover. it’s not bad as it is, don’t get me wrong – i like this cover – but it could have been better if the hair was slightly different.
I really like the florals and the makeup. The hair is a little off but i thik the whole thing is generally good.

Florals for spring, Groundbreaking.
The only think I seem to like about this cover is the cardigan…
it could have been great if it wasn’t for that hair. and fingers crossed for a kloss-free issue!
Bad Hair!
TyDye… you kill me!
i now come to expect bad covers from vogue. it’s like anna’s playing a joke on everyone, thinking “how terrible can i ACTUALLY make this???” it’s both depressing and hilarious at this point.
the hair and lip combo are what’s screwing this up: pick one. the crazy-awkward blonde hair or the barbie pink lip.
and i disagree with #9, i love karlie kloss, she’s one of the few reasons i still read vogue.
Again with the cardigans. Just another waste, again.
Vogue always seems to create the “pretty pretty” covers forcing their cover stars to look just…boring and unoriginal. There’s nothing interesting about this cover despite the fact that Rachel McAdams, one of my faves, is on it.

I like that it at least has a little sassiness and attitude. A good change from the Annie L. covers – just wish they could push a more extreme sensibility – actually ‘go there’ in terms of the DG 50′s bad girl / housewife.
number 13, i like karlie kloss too, but she is so overused in american vogue at this point! in the november (i think) issue, she had like 4 editorials! she is a good model, but she ain’t that good.
The little floral top is a cute touch, but that HAIR DO and SKIRT just age her like twenty years..I dunno man..
I don’t hate the make-up and hair, but it doesn’t work with the outfit. She should be wearing a sparkly silver evening gown…but that floral thing gives it a mis-matched look.
I wish Joan from Mad Men was wearing that dress but with more modern makeup ad jewelry. This look is a little dated. The worst part is really the headlines though. Everything going down the right side of the page is unnecessary.
Why can’t Vogue (and other fashion mags) take some chances? They all look so boring with some celeb on the cover who has a new movie coming out. It’s so rare to see a model or any sort of innovation in design. Get rid of the endless text and try something different! Look at how cool and beautiful old Vogue’s are from the early years of the magazine. What happened??
I agree with everyone, she looks so much older. And I hate to say it, but I do see the Kate Gosselin reference, yikes. It’s a shame because these cover stars have no say, I wonder how she felt when she saw the final product.

Bad idea jeans~~~~ hahaha
I think a nude lip might have balanced the look out…maybe a touch of peach on the lips.
I honestly kinda dig the hair + makeup combo, but once again Vogue US bores me to tears with their sartorial choices. Is it that they truly believe that this is what 20-something girls fawned over when viewing the spring collections or that they simply don’t give a damn?
