Vogue’s Life With André brings up loads of questions, but this weekend a reader was so curious he emailed,
Dear Fashionista.
So I was reading Life With André in the new Vogue, and he talks about the new Halston documentary, which is tr√®s exciting, but in the column he mentions that Halston acted as his “big brother” when he came to New York, providing his whole wardrobe from his own closet?!
Ultrasuede sport jackets, YSL le smoking, et al. But um, even at his prime, ALT was ginormously tall, so is this some out and out lie, or was Halston secretly huge, and that’s why he did all the coke/heroine/etc.????
Just wondering…
Love,
A keen observer

Read again, the article is quoting liza with a z.
Has Fashionista been hacked? I can’t even get past the rudeness of “was Halston huge??!” this morning (nor the remediality of “heroine”), but for the record, Roy Halston was about 6’2 or 3”. André is probably 6’6”. Almost any random photo shows how tall they both are, and how much slimmer André was in his youth. “Keen observer” my ass.
Furthermore can’t this rude letter writer, who we’ll assume is 5’1”, share clothes with a 5’4” friend?
it was liza that said that
I think by huge she means tall? although I don’t see what being tall has to do with drugs haha
