Emma Watson: Icon-ette
By Abby Gardner Tuesday, Jan 5, 2010 / 3:56 PM
It’s common knowledge that we have a serious girl crush on Emma Watson. The new S/S 2010 Burberry campaign (her second) only makes us love her more.
The purple trench she’s wearing in this shot was one of our favorites from the moment we saw it. And we love that Christopher Bailey and Mario Testino included her adorable brother Alex in the mix of (equally adorable) Brit boys in the campaign. (George Craig is another new favorite–loving the foppish hair.)
See more of the campaign and a behind the scenes video where Chris Bailey talks about the iconic Burberry pieces he wanted scattered throughout and Emma charms us all yet again.

Although not yet convinced with her acting talent, I’m sure this campaign works for Burberry. I would just rather see more models, less actors, unless of course that includes Clemence Poesy.
I’ve yet to tire of her.
Oh, She is adorable!! Beautiful pics, and Burberry mmmm…
I’m more excited to see Mario Testino and Camilla Nickerson in action then Emma Watson!

So Burberry is this historic brand and this ad makes it look like the clothes are for teenagers. Are they tryign to lure the Abercrombie crowd?
I don’t know, she is older than the majority of models…I think we think of emma as younger than she is, and models as older than they really are. I can’t say I totally disagree with you even though I didn’t see it until you mentioned it, but I still like the ads, and emma, and I am 26…
I love her. She seems so fresh and classy at the same time. She’s perfect for Burberry. She makes me want to own their clothes. She’s doesn’t come of as uptidy. It’s like you can wear Burberry and still be normal! Well dressed but normal.
@6, i totally agree! she makes it seem more tangible and doable for someone young. i especially love the lavender trench too. emma watson is adorable and seems really genuine. i think it’s cool her brother is in it, too, he’s precious!
This is just…really bad. I love Emma, but she looks about 15 hanging with her emo-hipster crew while they go try to sneak into clubs, smoking cigarettes, and flashing the burberry plaid. I’m just not into it.
Scott’s, “The Art of the Trench” sold that product more, I’m sure.
I just can’t stop thinking how unimagined this was. Nothing novel with makeup. Nothing novel with setting. Just throw some clothes on, Emma, and take a picture. Your brother’s got the hipster vibe…throw him in there too.
The Art of the Trench is an interesting piece of interactive marketing, but I don’t think that Scott Schuman’s photography is any more interesting than this ad. People often mistake a good camera and lovely natural lighting for talent.
I think Emma looks beautiful and chic. George Craig on the other hand looks like a Myspace fool with that swept aside hair and angsty stare.
#4, abercrombie has nothing to do with age groups. it’s a taste. there are 20 yr olds in kansas who wear it everyday and 20 yr olds in nyc who wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot pole.
and honestly, the people who buy abercrombie and the people who buy burberry couldn’t be more polar opposite, so no one really knows what point you were trying to prove.
@10:
Mmm, maybe there is a huge difference between the people wearing Abercrombie and people wearing Burberry Prorsum, but there is little to no difference between those who wear Abercrombie and those who have (or yearn for) Burberry’s be-checked aspirational monstrosities such as headbands, scarves, and (shudder) bucket hats. Just visit any middle tier university for verification.
Also, it is clear that #4 is using the term Abercrombie as a bit of an insult, first of all, and is also being somewhat facetious in order to make a point about the attitude/styling/models of the campaign. I don’t even fully agree with #4, but he or she is being clear. You are not.
I actually love Emma Watson, but these pictures are surprisingly uninspired considering who shot them. She was so much more charming/smoldering/effervescent in the video than in these stills. They’re way way too posed and prommy. What happened?
George Craig is beautiful! And only lives about 10 miles from me haha!
She’s not much of a model, but I LOVE Emma Watson to death anyway. She is such a role model–and that’s coming from a girl who doesn’t have role models.
And #13: yeah, but her brother is goh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-orgeous!
i think she’s adorable and fresh and beautiful and intelligent, but she is too young for these clothes. period.
