marloesnext2.jpg With Fashion Week just around the corner, we decided to make a list of six models to watch. These girls are some of our favorite new faces, and we’re eager to see what’s next for them.
Meet Marloes Horst, Hannah Holman, Ginta Lapina, Frida Gustavsson, Nimue Smit, and Valerija Kelava.
With some editorial and runway work under their size zero belts, these six models are bound to make it big in 2010.

Interesting picks!
I really like Hannah’s print work and think she’ll definitely do well next season on the runway even though she’s so short. I thought Frida would too but after IMG failed to secure her any major campaigns it’s hard to be sure.
Would be nice to see Valerija K do well as so many of the successful new girls for the last two seasons have been so bland looking.

Good post Kate, can’t wait for Fashion Week!

Anyone want to take bets as to which of these girls (if any) we’ll remember in two years? Five years?

I have this theory that hot models are like indie bands – a few of them will have staying power, but most of them get a moment of total obsession and then… disperse.

okay fashionista, all but one of these models have blond hair and blue eyes. That’s a bit troubling. Now this could just be coincidence, but it is unfortunate to look at diversity among less established models, and their perceived potential based on said lack of diversity.

Marloes Horst looks JUST like tanya d. I don’t think now is the time for her.

I agree with number 5

all of these girls have been working for a couple years now!

someone needs to fix all that writing above the header

True that some of these models have already been around some time but their true exposure is right just at this moment.
Frida is however the only one that has the Karlie Kloss staying power.

i’m so over all these sullen, malnourished looking little teen models. please, can we just have healthy adults? and this is coming from a 21 year old so i’m not a grandma or old or anything like that.

As an aspiring African-American model, it disheartens me that all of these models are Caucasian. That is all.

Ashton, you should contact my friend Karen to see how she can help you be more exposed and maybe do something together. She’s not a model but have been approached numerous times to appear in all kinds of media.

There are also certain agencies, who celebrate uniqueness and diversity, that you should look into.

I love Frida! But I Bregje belongs on this list somewhere.

none of these models are new! frida is 16 already, jesus. get with it fashionista.

It is extremely disheartening to see no ethnic models on your list. Are you declaring Black, Asian and Latinos are out this year. It won’t be the first time we’ve been out of fashion. Perhaps it’s time you realized we read your blog too and we’re hearing your message loud and clear.
