zac posen for target pull.jpgIf yesterday’s blurry Gaultier for Target image left you unsatisfied, here’s the complete Zac Posen for Target lookbook.

The collection’s 100% Zac, made for a woman who likes to dress up, but might not have a red carpet to walk every other week.

It’s mostly dresses, highlights include a sleeveless floral mini with a massive side bow ($74), a well-cut purple polka-dot number with thick seams ($39), and the long printed gown at left ($69).

Swimsuits come in gold lame ($40) and tie dye (so do tees), skirts are basic black in flouncy cuts ($40) and Zac’s even included a slim black suit ($90).

You’ll have to wait until April 25th to buy it, but click through to see the whole collection.

The only 2 things I want out of this "collection" is the tuxedo body suit and that blue snap dress. Even though I have a piece or 2 from most of these target collaborations, I always feel that they could be sooo much better. They should make fewer pieces (cough cough, rodarte) out of better materials. I also feel like they market these lines for angsty 15 year olds or something. I don't agree with the statements that this line looks so "Zac". I see no resemblance to his signature line! All of these collaborations are starting to look the same. And yes, that safety pin shirt is god awful, as well as the suit pants.

The Target Go Collection for what it is there have been some great designers who have had the good sense and craftsmanship to mix their aesthetic with certain inexpensive fabrics without making the end product look cheap and a waste of your $50 or so dollars spent. Designers like the late Lee McQueen of Alexander McQueen, Jonathan Saundars and others accomplished walking the thin line between budget and taste. Unfortunately the line was too thin for the girls of Rodarte but Zac Posen was not such a disaster, not from the pictures anyway. Yes, there were some clothes that shouldn’t be worn by anyone over 17 and the one look model did not properly fit the clothes nor the style but most of the pieces didn’t scream “I got this at Target”, which I think is a minor accomplishment. There were some quintessential Zac pieces in there like the Polka Dot print dress and the splash of color throughout, perfect for rolling into spring. All in all the clothes photograph well but how will they fit and what is the material, two factors that determine success. I wonder how will he do….

I'm always iffy about these collections. They look so great in the lookbook and on the site but they tend to be a little...blah in person.

I do want almost all of these dresses though.

I honestly think they have the model (who i know of)'s toes turned in in every shot because her legs arn't actually straight when she has her feet straight. it's super odd. like this: http://i988.photobucket.com/albums/af5/PFWD5/elsao.jpg and this: http://i43.tinypic.com/m7fdx2.jpg

So into it. ZP is amazing! I do however agree with Beth's comment about the Rebecca DeMornay thing, it def is vibing 80's style, but all in a good way
  • flowerponychloe
    Ohhh...
Target rules. I am in LOVE.

okay, what is with the model?? i get that she's waif thin unlike the majority of american women (a BIG reason i won't buy into this line), but look at her legs and feet...! there isn't one photo of her without her toes pointed in! sry if i'm treading on some feelings here, but she just looks ridiculous to have that in EVERY shot. if they were going for the "innocent" look, there are other poses, then just that one, and most of those outfits definitely aren't innocent!
there were a few pieces that i thought were cute, but the model just totally turned me off....

Could he have found a skinnier, sicklier model? Maybe that's it though- I don't see half of this stuff working on anyone who has more than an A cup chest. Love the swimwear though and the tuxedo dress is fab!
  • magita
I really love the long dress in the safety pin print. I would snap it up if it were a jersey maxi dress. However, they call it a gown which makes me think it's going to be a crappy polyester chiffon. Boo.
  • lisalorane
I REALLY want that red ruffled dress. so cute.
  • jen
every designer line that i've seen at target has been of poor quality and are ill-fitting, which is too bad because a lot of the styles have been cute.

I love that floral dress and that red swimsuit though obviously I'd had to see how they looked IRL...I thought the GG collection was going to be great and then it looked hideous in the store.
Why is everyone complaining about the model? Have they never seen a fashion magazine before? They only use 90 lb 17 year old girls. We all know this. Nothing will change.
  • Anna
Some of it's cute... too bad ZP only designs for stick figures.
  • missfitfashion
not true, he includes up to size 14 in his Z Spoke line and will expand to size 16.

I think its safe to say Zac has a thing for Rebecca De Mornay in the movie Risky Business. Right down to the styling of the model. As with any Target/designer collabo there are some obvious hits and misses.

dibs on the red swim suit.
  • shopoholic
why is there a swimsuit and a dress in the same material? other than the floral dress i am not liking this colabaration
  • vdigital
i particularly like the tuxedo-motif stuff (the bodysuit is my fave), the red strapless dress, and the purple polka-dot dress. the rest of it is, for me, a pass. thanks for the heads-up, fashionista ;)

Wow. After reading all the comments I thought the collection would have me salivating for April 25. But... I apparently am the only one who thinks it's borderline atrocious! It looks like stuff for 8th graders circa 1993.
I wanted to like it, but no.

There is no such thing as a real model or a fake
She's just a face you have seen before in magazine editorials
    Love the collection for Target
    flirty chic style
    Congrats Zac Posen

After waiting at the door at 8 a.m. for Target to open for their new designer lines SO many times, I am over it. My "conspiracy theory" is that they only have these collections to make the Mossimo - which is always right next to it - look far better at a cheaper price, and 99% of the time, that is the case. I would gladly pay a little more if they would stop using so much polyester for the designer clothing.

Um... that hideous "safety-pin" print blouse is not a style we need to relive. Ever.
i wish fashion photogs, models and designers would quit already with the skinny, bird-like figures and the emphasis on their UNREALISTIC shapes. Honest to god, I am NOT sold on any of these outfits since they're being modeled on a person with VERY different size from my own and most other American women. I'm under average weight for my height but hell if I look like that starving waif.
BUT I admit, the dresses are adorable.
  • Dear Target:
If you could let me get my hands on the Red Leather before April 25th I would be eternally thankful and never cheat on you with Walmart or Costco again!

I love the yellow jacket and the white lipstick tank! I'd want to see the collection in person - it's very zac!

The floral dress with the giant bow makes me insanely joyous.

it's amazing what one can do with a factory of desperate and cheap workers.I imagine for about 15% of the retail price it could have been made in America if facilities exist still.that being said, things are tough all over.cute enough I guess.
  • brett_kane
    what a coup, britt!

This would be great, but I'm imagining all of these pieces in cheap target fabric... So I'm not sure how this would work in reality.
  • leni
some of it i really like, and some of it looks just like average stuff you could find anywhere. the gold lame stuff looks straight out of american apparel. but i am really excited to see it in person!
  • hey it looks pretty good. the model reminds me of taylor swift in that first pic. great collection!
  • nuhh429
I am obsessed with this line. I will now be saving all my money. Though my birthday's only four days after it comes out. Maybe I'll just ask for Target giftcards.
  • TheHighPriestess
hmm - apart from a couple of pieces, they look pretty blah.. his range for Australian Target was so much more unique IMHO
