GANTmain.jpgAlong with Adam Kimmel and C.P. Company, Michael Bastian is definitely at the top of our list of menswear designers we wish would create a runway collection for women.
Our request hasn’t been granted (yet), but Bastian is indeed branching out. Next month, he’ll debut a traditional sportswear collection for classics-purveyor Gant at New York Fashion Week. With the Americana trend still going strong on the street, this sounds like the perfect partnership.
Only one image showing off pieces of the collection has been released thus far, but the folks at Gant are offering up a short video preview. It doesn’t tell us much, but it does get across the point that the collection is influenced by the uniforms of lacrosse players. At least what they traditionally wear off the field.
For guys, that apparently means ripped jeans, v-neck sweaters and overcoats inspired by 1980s prep, a frequent theme in Bastian’s collections. Now, if only he could throw a plaid skirt into the mix….

Umm, CP Company has been around since 1975 and has had a womens collection for almost as long… Well done Fashionista.

You got me on that one, Guest. But CP Company doesn’t do a women’s runway collection. I guess that’s more of what I’m looking for from them.
Cheers, Lauren
