Mulberry’s Alexa Finally Lands In Stores
By Britt Aboutaleb Thursday, Jan 7, 2010 / 11:09 AM
I love underwear as outerwear, no pants, leather tees and socks with sandals, but if there’s one thing from SS10 I’ve been waiting for with particular impatience, it’s Mulberry’s Alexa bag.
Alexa Chung carried a caramel version of her eponymous satchel throughout New York and London Fashion Week last September, and it’s finally hitting stores this Monday, January 11th.
Emma Hill designed the bag after spotting Alexa’s vintage men’s briefcase (also Mulberry) and added some girly touches and a handful of color options including snakeskin trimmed leather, hot pink leopard and a beige tweed – they all come in either regular or oversized.
It’s the first time I’ve caved to an “It Bag,” but also the first time an “It Bag’s” looked so classic. More images, after the jump.

IT IS SO INTERESTING WHEN YOU SEE A STAR RISING AND EVEN FASHION BRANDS START LAUNCHING PRODUCTS WITH THEIR NAMES. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALEXA.

I love love the grey one so much
I am not in love with the bag. I think she looks adorable with it but I don’t think if I saw that bag roaming the streets I doubt it would hold my attention for longer than a second and last in my memory for even less than that.
Whoa as I read that back it was ubernegative…which is no way to prosper in 2010. So I am happy that Alexa was able to inspire a bag and kudos to her!
meh. i prefer the ps1.
So nice that the PS1 is already being ripped off.
this is just a bad version of a PS1 with Mulberry’s ugly hardware.
#5 and #6,
Emma designed these new bags based on an already existing vintage Mulberry bag.
Mulberry started around 1971. PS started in 2002.
Jack and Lazaro did not reinvent the wheel; the core design with the flap and the 2 straps is not original.
I think they started to see all the hipsters sporting Filson and they wanted to make a designer version to gain street cred. Or I just made that up so I can link this

#7 – That bag is such a blatant “homage” to the PS1, and nobody had claimed that Jack and Lazaro invented the specific flap shape and closure straps (or colors.. or carrying strap..)
I don’t particularly see why it’s relevant that Mulberry has been around longer than Proenza, you might be interested to know that Dooney & Bourke was also founded in the 70′s, and not much needs to be said about their reputation.
This is just another example of a bag they’ve copied and defiled with their bogus hardware. How many times have we all spotted a Birkin only to notice that Mulberry hardware on your second glance?
OF COURSE Britt would “die” for the Alexa, go to Marie Claire or something…
is it me or does everyone seems to have a problem with Britt?
She took over the site when Faran left right?
