Project-Runway-season-7-cast.jpgLet’s just say that we’re less-than-excited about the Season 7 debut of Project Runway tonight at 10pm EST.
However, this morning we remembered that there is one thing indicating this season might be the best yet.
Luckily for us, casting calls were by invitation only. That means producers on the show went out and searched for talent at design schools and top design firms instead of letting random people try out.
Of course, this does ruin the chances of a wild card making it big, but let’s be honest. The two people with real, saleable talent in the history of the show are Christian Siriano and Daniel Vosovic. (There might be a couple of others, and we’re sure you’ll let us know who they are in the comments below.) Daniel and Christian were both right out of fashion school. So there goes the wild card theory.
Last summer we had lunch with one of the judges on the show, who told us that Season 7 was definitely the most impressive yet in terms of ability level.
Guess we’ll have to tune in tonight to determine whether or not we agree.

I think it’s great that these people were scouted rather than having been selected through the reality-show process. Unfortch I canceled my cable right after season 5, boo.
I thought Ulli, Jillian, and especially Korto all made very wearable, pretty clothes. Ulli did her beach girl thing to perfection, Jilly’s coats were to die for and I would live in Korto’s jewel-toned maxi dresses if I could.
But my #1 fave will always be Stella. I don’t know about “saleable” (other than to the tiny rock n’ roll cavewomen demographic), but I

… love her!
(my comment cut off, weird)

WE can’t forget about Chole Dao her work were wearable and extremely women friendly.

You’re right, she is saleable. But do you like her stuff? It’s not really high fashion meets wear-ability, ala Michael Kors. Isn’t that what the Project Runway designer is supposed to represent?

Maybe not, but Chloe’s clothing is very easy for both older women and younger women to wear. I can’t tell you how many pieces of her stuff my mom has picked up when in Houston, and I have borrowed it.
Say what you may, but I think Austin Scarlett does make some extremely beautiful wedding dresses.
I think a lot of the contestants had TONS of talent, but they hadn’t found their niche yet, like Austin did.

I’ve gotta agree with Chloe Dao, she made some pieces that could be called classic.

First commenter, you can watch them on mylifetime.com on Saturdays if you’re interested.

I can’t be the first one to say you forgot Leanne, can I? That’s just ridiculous.
The kid is phenomenal.

thus, my proof.
And thanks for the info, rachels. I will definitely be catching up on PR this time around…

Yes, Daniel and Christian are both talented– but I had to come here to agree with number 8. You forgot Leanne!! She presented a serious, refined collection with a strong and intriguing point of view. She could do something interesting, even if she is a quieter personality than, say, Christian.

thank you, Rachels! #1

i abso-fucking-lutely loved chloe dao.
