Tony Blair for Louis Vuitton falls in line with Gorbachev, Madonna and Buzz Aldrin, as in it’d be an unsurprisingly random pairing.
But Blair’s not starring in a Vuitton campaign, he’s joining the company as an advisor to Bernard Arnault.
The former Prime Minister’s coming on board later this year to help attract new clients to the luxury conglomerate, as if LVMH has trouble attracting new talent.
Vogue UK remembers when Sir Phillip Greene tried to interest Blair in fashion a few years ago and he responded, “You would have to start me right at the bottom. I am not known for my fashion sense. When I wore a particular brand of swimming trunks one year, the sales then collapsed.”
Here’s hoping he’s been given a pair of spiffy new swim trunks.
