A month ago, I went to Bumble and bumble and asked for pink hair. There was Proenza, but there was also Giles. And if I couldn't have a dino bag, I was at least going to have Dree's pink hair. I didn't want a whole head of pink, but a few cotton candy colors woven through the ends. I walked out with perfectly ombre hair a la Rachel Bilson, but the ends just barely glowed pink, and only in the right light. Since I was heading to the Middle East for a month I knew I'd come back blonder, which meant waiting until January to seriously tackle the color question.

So now I'm back, and Tavi's hair is blue, and Kate's rocking grey streaks in Paris, and I'm not sure which way to go. Naturally, I've experimented with Sharpies. One side of my head's covered in pink and purple strips, the other in blue and green and I've become a colorful intern experiment. We expect to see loads of colored hair this spring, at least in this city, but the question is, which color's best? What pops, instead of washing out? And most importantly, which guarantees a flattering accent instead of a dominating there-goes-the-girl-with-the-pink-hair look?
