McQueen is the master of presenting collections. In one of his most memorable shows, he created a stunningly eerie hologram of Kate Moss spinning around in a swelling gown–it was hauntingly beautiful. On the right is an image from the collection he dedicated to Isabella Blow; the theme was birds. This finale look was the perfect tribute.
This is probably our favorite McQueen collection. The designer spoke about his inspiration: “I’ve got a 600-year-old elm tree in my garden, and I made up this story of a girl who lives in it and comes out of the darkness to meet a prince and become a queen.” Here’s the darkness–and evidence that crinoline can be magical. And here’s the queen.
The umbrella hat was amazing and it was one of our favorite things to see in fall editorials. It added a bit of humor to the spreads and always made us smile. And of course, no one feathers quite like McQueen.
How do you choose a favorite look from this collection? We can’t, so here are some great ones.
