Alice + Olivia Throws a Bash, Adds Some Clothes
By Cheryl Wischhover
Scene: Saturday night. Alice+Olivia at the Gansevoort’s Provocateur. Leafy trees everywhere, and swings covered with sheepskin and models–more spring than fall.
Seen: Kellys Rutherford, Osbourne, and Killoren-Bensimon. The latter wearing a short pink sequined dress with a matching pink microphone for Us Weekly. Also, Mena Suvari, Matthew Settle (aka Rufus Humphrey), SNL’s Fred Armisen and Elisabeth Moss, The City stars, Cynthia Rowley and Maggie Rizer.
Heard: The Misshapes spinning a mix of old and new, including ancient Siouxsie and the Banshees. Mickey Avalon took the stage for a live show, spilled red wine down his wife-beater, and rapped.
Sights: Fresh-faced models sporting messy updos and cascades of curls. For a label that got its start designing pants, there were few to be seen in this collection. There were harem styles, the most modern of which was a knee-length knicker. Short full skirts were in abundance in a wide range of textures, from brocade to lace over wool to a feathered ombre stunner. Several sweet party dresses rounded out the collection. Hats were designed by Selima.
Pamela Love‘s jewelry added a dark, gothic edge–a great juxtaposition for the ultra feminine clothes.
