Band of Outsiders: Can I Live in Scott Sternberg’s Movie?
By Lauren Sherman
CFDA winner Scott Sternberg was a filmmaker before he was a designer. You can tell by his fashion week presentations, which look like a mini-movie set season-upon-season.
This year, the LA-based designer’s scene moved from the classroom–with desks and vintage typewriters galore–to the parking lot–where models reclined on a vintage Mercedes–to the deep woods, where a few appeared ready to hit the slopes.
Of course, it was all informed by a distinctly preppy aesthetic that includes boat shoes, corduroys, lots of plaid and this year, cleats (for the girls). While there wasn’t a standout piece–I guess Sternberg is over his nearly-iconic suspender skirt–I’ll still give it two Siskel & Ebert-style thumbs up.

i'm pretty sure he was an agent. big difference. but saying he was a filmmaker does make for a more interesting story! agent? not so much.
He was an agent–but he was also an aspiring filmmaker! (And still is, by the way.)
