The Scene: Capitale—an old bank turned event space on Bowery. We entered into the show area—a grand ballroom with coffered ceilings and massive columns lining the walls. Beautiful.
The Front Row: Anna Dello Russo (dressed in neon pink and bum-high leather boots), Anna Wintour, Grace Coddington and Amy Astley. André was there, but not in the front row. And not near Anna.
The Show Starts: White, glittering confetti falls from the center of the ceiling, reminiscent of snow. (Little did we know that when it comes to time to leave the show, it would be snowing outside as well.)
The Models: Freja opens. Sigrid closes. And in between it's about the best line-up a designer could hope for: Jac, Anna S, Ginta, Magdalena, Iris, Constance, Rianne, Anja, Karlie, Jacquelyn and Mirte, to name a few.
The Clothes: Fievel Derek Goes West. The collection was cowgirl-inspired. We saw desperado hats with chin-straps, fringe and chunky booties. There was also a lot of leather and a lot of fur. Remember that highly-saturated collection the designer gave us for spring? Well, Derek said goodbye to the bright palette for fall and embraced more sullen tones—think gold, caramel, beige, brown and black.
The Makeup: I went backstage for nearly two hours before the show began yesterday morning. Tom Pecheux, Creative Makeup Director for Estée Lauder, was leading the team of artists and approving girls' faces before they left to get dressed. The look was a bold, midnight blue eye with a dark, red lip—gorgeous! And hanging out with my favorite models all morning wasn't bad either. Click through to see the close-up pictures!
